Guitarist how many of you have SWEATY PALMS?!?!

!

My palms doesnt really sweat, but there was this time when we're on stage for our first number. As I hit the first chord *PLANK!* a string broke.. and then, you guessed it.. FRIGGIN SWEATY PALMS! which became a sweaty palm muted song btw.

applying lemon oil on ur finger tips before playing helps? i didnt know that. i too have sweaty palms and its really very irritating.. i hold handphone for too long my handphone also become wet.. i play on my bass for too long, my strings become soggy :P

:O

YEA god damn sweaty palms are really a pain in the butt.. My string easily get rusty and my guitar get slippery after a while

OMG! I as gonna start a thread like this. I totally have that problem. My strings are rusting like mad too, but it's under control since I polish my strings after EVERY use.

It also screws with my playing 'cos my fingers slip like crazy.

Try to play in a room temperature area. I notice I sweat more in air-conditioned evironment.

i bought some lint free cloth that i use to wipe down my strings everytime after i play

add a little DR polymer solution and my strings can last almost forever (no rust but of course the tone dies)

Sweat helps me move around the neck faster.
I use blue steel strings, didn't rust that fast.
And i always have a cloth with me to wipe the neck after playing.

sweaty palm sucks..
But mine isn't that bad, just that will sweat during perfomance.
And string rust like damn easily!!
3 weeks, change 1 x !

Argh sweaty palms.... Just makes it so hard for me to slide from 5 fret to 18 fret, makes me change string once every 1-2 weeks(yes I wipe down and apply conditioner everytime I finish playing, longest string lasting record was 20 days), gives sticky feeling to string after playing for 1/2 hour or more, so hard to slide.. Oh and so much more. I make sure my skills make up for my sweaty palms and fingers so I don't feel so bad changing strings every 2 weeks.

I bought perspirex lotion from guardian.

Its a 100ml bottle.

I apply it once a day for the first 3 days.
Then 3 times a week after that.

Its a clear colourless solution the consistency of water.

I put a few drops on my palm and rub my hands together, like putting on hand lotion. Let it dry via blowing with a fan. Then go to bed.

The next morning, i wash it with warm water and soap.

It also helps if you have some moisturizing hand lotion to put on as your skin may be dry for the day. I find that this is because sweating actually moisturizes my skin, and applying this will stop my palms from sweating a lot. Probably cut down 80-90% of my hand perspiration.

Please do not touch your face before the lotion dries. Especially your eyes/tear glands.

It can be found at guardian for SGD28 or RM47 in JB. Please note that not all guardian shops sell it. I know the one at Funan has, as well as Plentong Giant (JB) has.

It works the same as gricrol - SGD21/60ml (spelling mistake) just that it comes in a bigger bottle.

A note of caution, NEVER EVER use it on damp/wet skin.

ODDLY ENUFF FOR ME ..... WHEN I GIG MY ENTIRE BODY SWEATS BUCKETS EXCEPT MY PALMS ... funny siak ....

I hate it when sweat trickles into your eyes while u on stage ....

i too have this problem, but apprently it affects only my picking hand. :( pick slides out off my hand.. then i've switch to those grip ones the feeling of it kinda sucks for me as the feeling of sweat and rubber with friction is just pure sick for me, the best thing that i do is to duck tape my pick for grip and its doing fine :p;)

Yeah sweaty palms dammit.
It really hinders ur playing as palm muting and controlling is very much
affected by it.
i need a permenent solution

i have bad cases of sweaty palms usually.esp when the weather is hot or very cold.but somehow for some reason when i pick up my guitar my sweaty palms disappear 95% of the time.only on rare occasions will my palms sweat when playing the guitar..so..maybe im blessed :-D

I have a bit of sweaty palms too, not too serious though.I just use picks with better grip and wipe my strings down.
