My pick kept slipping off and i have to wipe my right palm and the pick constantly! Hate that! But I don't have the problem with my left, just that my string rust in 1 week.

Hey guys,

I rarely go to soft.com now mostly because I've stopped playing but I happened to stumble onto this post. The problem of sweaty palms, hands, fingers, fingertips plagued me since a young age and got worse off during my teenage years and the early-twenties.

I just want to offer some tips to you guys with regards to mitigating this problem:

1) Stop drinking cold beverages. Trust me, of all the things I did to alleviate this problem, this worked the best for me. In fact, I went to see a TCM years ago and he said that my kidneys were weak from too much cold beverages, which is true cos I used to only drink cold stuff. Since I stopped that, my sweaty palms problem improved remarkably.

2) Some posters mentioned the use of Triclor or Driclor (can't remember the name). I did try that a few times over the span of the last 10years. Everytime I applied it, I remember why I stopped it. It makes the palm feel rubbery and uncomfortable the next day. Not sure if any of you who tried it, felt the same way. To be honest, I rather endure the sweaty palm than the rubbery feel. You can try it if you want.

3) Try to sleep early and get at least 7 to 8 hrs of sleep. I experimented and found that insufficient sleep contributed to the problem as well.

4) Eat lots of fruits and vegetables to load your body with vitamin C. It helps to a certain extent.

You may be amused at the measures I take, but trust me, the thought of shaking someone's hand with dripping sweaty palms makes all these (little) sacrifices worth it. While the problem hasn't totally gone away, its certainly ALOT better now!

Try it!

Hahah cool solutions! Hmm, for me here every month must change strings... Now i wash my hands after playing and use fret cleaner and lemon oil after playing. And wiping the strings. Fret cleaner kinda oils the strings so it prolongs string life i guess. But those are my solutions. Off to try yours!

I also have sweaty hands, but luckily not too serious. Just the pick always slip off my hand, and my strings rust very quickly.

I tried Jim Dunlop pick (i think its crocodile something) and it does help me grip my pick better.

how about sweaty everywhere?

I am totally drenched i sweat each time I play a high energy gig ...
