capt_oreo: He said that it is his fault that maybe he rushed abit and didn't finesse out the parts, but I should have told him before posting on the forum. I agree with this point though, it feels kind of backstabbing him even without giving him a chance to make up for it.

Fenderben: Thanks for that information, though I still would have gone with switchcraft because I wanted to follow PRS's specs.

Well this is how the hole looked like after the edges were rounded off. I had to stain the chipped part abit myself, it looks darker due to the camera angle but in real life it actually blends in well once I diluted it with a bit of naptha. The dark stains around the hole have been wiped off and now you can only see a slight shadow of the chip at a certain angle under the toggle nut - you wouldn't have realised it was there if I didn't tell you. Still, the nut has to be painstakingly positioned in order to just cover the defect.

Almondx,

My view on your situation. Its not your fault to complain here so don't be manipulated to feel like you did something wrong. You felt like you had no choice because he was screaming at you anyway. He sound like the kind of guy whom you must 'bang tables' before the job gets done well. If you didn't post it here, he might not have done it at all. He not sorry, just sorry he got called out on a bad job.

Bad service is like rats. For every one you see or hear about, there are 100 others that you don't see.

IMHO.

I agree totally. Till you bust him wide open about his 'bad' service & ATTITUDE and call his 'bluff'. Then he begins to be very reasonable, so to speak. MEH! Don't waste your time there no more.

the forum appreciates service appraisals for the common good; you share good/ bad services, we know who to look for/ avoid in the future. it is inevitable that bitter personal encounters would surface & sharing it here would somehow unload some frustrations especially when immediate retaliation is concerned. however, do keep your sharing free from profane expletives for the risk of being banned. using these against a party concerned would make you stoop lower than the low they display. hope everyone keeps this in mind...

Personally, when i first went to the shop, i was very excited. But the guy gave me a face i never seen before in my life. It was like "wtf are you doing here penniless boy, we only sell top class guitars here". At tat moment, the 'gold made guitar' were like 'shit made guitar' to me. wat a service. And few months later, i asked for a servicing job price. it was so high and unreasonable compared to any shop in the building.

If i would to work hard for months to buy a $5k guitar, it would be like the world to me. I would definitely wont want someone to treat it irresponsibly and worse, damaged it!! It is his job to do the job well. We are already overcharged, so we would expect at lest a average good service. And actually, we deserve much much better service.

I feel so bad for almondx. After reading so much comments from our softies friends, we should know where to go and where not to go when we need help. Seriously, if such kinda thing happens to anyone again, just go CASE.

Thanks guys for your inputs. I see people I don't know offering their sympathies and if there's one good thing that came out of this incident, it's the heartwarming responses I have received here.

They use korean pots. But CTS pots (the new ones with aluminium shafts) nowadays are crap. While they are supposed to be 100% American made, I believe they have shifted their production overseas.

Dimarzio makes a much better pot for the money. You can feel its solidness. Korean made pots are not bad either. Mine on my Crafter are still working fine and smooth.

CTS used to be made in USA until about 7-8 years ago. most of them are made in Taiwan now. apparently within CTS there are different grades too.

The Dimarzio pots that came in Dimarzio packaging used to be the USA-made CTS pots. Not sure what they are nowadays.

Ah I see. The roll off felt incredibly similar to the PRS pots, and so do the stiffness. PRS contracted CTS to make their pots too.. Hmm. Yup the Dimarzio pots still come in the Dimarzio packaging. Available from Swee Lee for $11.95, around $9+ after discount. The shaft is long though, I had to use 3 washers underneathe for it to be just nice.

The Dimarzios aren't long shaft per se. They are... semi long shaft. Longer than the standard short shaft but shorter than standard long.

oki, I am going to close this thread now. If you feel otherwise, PM me.
