anyone tried them? How are they? How does it sound? Im hoping to achieve a "er hu" sound, not too sure if this thing suit me, or should i get a sustainer and a volume pedal

I think they're fun and all, but bloody expensive. I've hrd the sound clips for ebow and can sound really close to a violin sound, not sure if that's what you want in an erhu sound. There's soundclips for the ebow on their website, check it out. The pirahnna one looks like cheaper alternative, basically imitating a real bow. Should do the same thing I think.

I'll rather go for other new gear, since the use of the bow is limited to occasional use(unless that's your thing). Alternative is to use a real violin bow, but I've not quite got around to mastering that, haha anyone who has PM me. Like I said la, its quite ex for what its worth, so try a friend's one if you can before getting one.

I've been gassing for one , for a long time. Tried it just a short while @ Mrmisse's.... Maybe I should just get it lah. Its 70 bucks... not like the world.... :D

Haha yes you can, well at least Jimmy Page did. But I don't know what you have to do to make it sound properly, cos after all its not arched like the pirahna and the guitar strings are not sticky like violin ones. Might have to do a google or other forums to see if others have done it successfully.

That's true la, if you get a new decent bow, probably a lot more ex. Haha I usually wait if there's any school band clearing their old bows and try and get la. They're not in super condition, but probably still usable.

Haha since shredcow buying, eh wait awhile la. Like I said in the other thread, if he don't like it, then sell u its your gain man! hehe 8)

violin strings are not sticky. Its the rosin you put on the bow that makes the strings vibrate. Violin string is also steel like guitar strings.

Think along the lines of an Ebow...

But I imagine you need a lot of practice to maintain a steady even volume unless you are on a compressor or higher gain.
