Hi all,

after so many post on my negative remarks,i've decided to edit this for good. You may keep ur quote in your post as i did typed all those stuff.

I just wish to share my hobby and there is nothing insecure about this. Maybe my time wasted on my hobby is too much for ppl to accept and my bad attitude of showing off is really bad.

I'll make this the last thread i start for posting all my diy jobs.

Just let this thread die off if you can. Thanks.

I can't change my bad showing off attitude right away, so.. here's the pics..

Still in the process of..
-completing the bridge with Graphtech Saddles
-finishing the wiring
-deciding if there is a need for a headstock decal
-misc(strap pins, strings)
-set up

This guitar was inspired by John Suhr's website.Maybe when i am old, i might be a singapore version of him.. haha build guitar and cheat your money! LOL~

TOUCHE!!! you're out for the kill hor? ;)

Anyway, always nice to see a work in progress project. It reminds me that I got too many unfinished project waiting to be done!

haha i knew that line would catch your attention!

where's your sense of humour?

alrite he dun cheat, i will :D how abt tt?

*shrugs*

I thought it was just bad grammar.

Wouldn't spill any water over a DIY-er who disses an experienced professional.

Chanmin:my tools are very common available
Stewmac, Lmii, local hardware stores(i always visit a store at rochor)

as for supplies, i've not built any guitar from scratch and they are always modifications.

Shredcow: i didn't mean to diss any professional. Yes i'm just a diy-er and have absolutely no rights to bad mouth any professionals out there. Lots for me to learn and experiment.
I believe suhr started as a diy-er or learning under someone and I believe you know there ain't really courses here for such things. So, I hope you'll start to see it as a good thing rather then bad for ppl to diy. Stop picking on small details in my bad grammar, i know i'm quite bad at it.

Or would you rather to do your same old?

a softies pm me this and i tot it'll be good to share..

Default painting strat body
hi, how do u paint a guitar body? on the bare wood, do u just apply the paint n then finish it or is there any other chemicals to be applied first? i just read an artice which mentions primer. is that necessary? also, what did u use to finish ur strat? do u recommend polyurethane? hey btw, r u gonna shield it?

regarding bare wood, i juz stripped mine of its paint n when i hit the bare wood, i noticed that some areas, especially around the edges, turn out rougher than the flat surfaces. did i touch the grain? ever come across similar experiences before?

thx a million.

-i paint it with wood lacquer and yes i use rattle cans.
-for this particular case, i strip until i hit the sealer coat.It was originally a natural gloss finish.A normal paint method is material>sealer>primer>colour>gloss.
-i used clear lacquer for the finishing.
-poly are tough paint but hard to work with and relatively hard to get. Closes i think is acrylic paint.
-yes i experience that b4.You might have just passed the sealer coat and unless you can find a wood sealer, i suggest you do some real good sanding job over it. Smooth surface allows the paint to be applied the best and gets the best results.

And so we have a proper clarification. I'm not offended by anything - just seeking clarification.

Note, for starters, there was no clarification on your "bad grammar", not even in your initial response to me.

FYI, what you're doing is really the "same old". But its your stepping stone to something greater and just because I don't heap praises on your work doesn't mean I dismiss it.

wooo nice.... i like the taste of colour combi... lolx!! best after u finish everything.. we can hear how it is... lolx...

Your spray can skill is awesome, any particular brands that you pick bro? I have problems with uneven droplets, esp when using tinted lacquer spray.

Shredcow i believe it was a joke! chill man and let live.......:D

Nice stuff you got there Grey.....Might go the DIY route myself after seeing such results.

I like to use RJ. Uneven droplets is quite common. What you need to do is a lot of fine sanding and polishing to keep the surface flat and nice.

where do you buy RJ spray cans? any place with a nice big range to choose from?

I used to buy from my hardware supplier at work. He's at Clementi Ave 2 but these days he doesn't have much stock. There are 2 other paint shops at that area that are pretty well stocked with Nippon Pylox and RJ. I'd prefer RJ though, used to it already AND they have this DULL Lacquer that makes everything MATT and nice.

RJ is available at most hardware shops lah no need to purposely go to Clementi to buy. I bought some from the hardware shop opposite sim lim tower at Dunlop St.
