Thinking of getting new pickups for my guitar. Any recommendations on what to put on my H-H Jackson?

I need a good bridge pickup and delivers nice metal and rock stuff while the neck pickups provides nice warmth for solos and must sustain well.

Currently looking at a few choices the SD's Blackouts, Dimarzio x2n and stuff, give your take on these few. Wondering what will go well with the Dimarzio x2n and where to get these pickups and the price. Other recommendations welcome.

Thanks alot!

Cool i love Michael Romeo, any ideas where to get those Dimarzios from and how much will it cost? Btw what pots should i use, 500k?

If you look hard online... ebay... you'll find some people who might ship it overseas. That's quite a bit cheaper than buying locally brand new.

About the Tonezone recommendation - note if you have a dark sounding guitar, then it will probably mud up. What guitar do you have?

yes, 500k pots will do. Or drop the tone pot if you don't use it. That's more metal.

Im using a Jackson Kelly Star. I dont have an account to shop on ebay, guess I'll have to try to look for it in the 2nd hand market? Is there any dealers in Singapore that sells dimarzios or the SD's blackouts?

just out of curiosity, would 1mg pots make a difference compared to 500k? I saw a few at Guitar Connection, just wondering if its good for high gain stuff since single coil pus are usually using 250k and humbuckers usually use 500k

for high output dimarzios, I would recommend Evolutions since they seem to fit your description nicely.

you have to choose between passive and active pickups though. the pots they use are different.

Yeap. Noticeable difference... I tried it. You can try it too - who knows!

heck, i dumped my tone pot on my guitar!

Hey man, I'm using EVO bridge and it kicks ass......Hey higher value pot means more output eh?Whats higher than 500k?

Just a caution....goin to the extreme is nice for bedroom but a pig when played on a louder amp.
A guitar is not a car...getting it turbo charged ain't gonna get you ...

I enjoy moderation...;)

Cool i think I'll probably settle for the Dimarzios, but will check out the SD Blackouts too, anyone knows the average price for Dimarzios and the SD blackouts?

for the set of dimarzio you're prolly looking at a ball park price of roughly 300 odd? not too sure abt the duncans tho

oh and jsut to contribute to your pickup choices, i like the paf pro in the neck, and tonezone for the bridge

sorry just to OT abit,

is there any good single coils for high gain?

i know this is not a single coil...as in a true one but it really worked for me. A dimarzio fast track 2. Really killer stuff for drop tunings and riffing....very tight and defined tone when used in the bridge position of my strat.

Im using it with 2 texas specials pups in the neck and middle position, and there's a jump in power when i switch to the bridge, so i use a compressor to relieve that. In fact, the other guitarist in my band liked it so much that he's going for one in the bridge too (hes a strat user too).
