Good Pickups for high gain and lead stuffs?

a better amp will of course manifest a pickup's character better, assuming the TS wants to get a pickup for grab and go jamming situations in studios.

Yeah i know an amp replacement would be appropriate in most cases, but im using a amp modeling pod so i believe my tone comes more from my pedal rather than the amp. So i think i need some better pickups to compliment the pedal too.

would the suhr v60 humm?

was hoping for something crunchy though. and single coish sounding

i currently have a hotrail in the bridge.
i feel that its range is not very wide.

as in it sounds compressed.

hey guys....noob question here but which SC will allow me to legato like kotzen and govan? no hot rails here, SC recommendation only....and it must sound good for both cleans and dirt.

and yes i know skills that kills are in the fingers.

Ized, consider the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2.

It has the longest name so it should help.

And... its a recommendation from TGP - WalterW (or was it Eagle1), he seems like a tech who does know quite a bit, has been recommending it. There is a guy on youtube who uses it... I haven't check recently but back when I was looking around for info on this pickup, there's only 1 guy using it. I pm-ed him about it - perfect for that smooth, singing shred tone.

As for cleans - its warm.

Its difficult to get both bright cleans + the compression that can help legato along. Kotzen uses a Chopper T.

You can try the Chopper but in all the clips from say, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, he seems to favour the bridge humbucker (a Tonezone) over using the chopper when it comes to tapping. The Chopper when used for tapping sounds quite percussive so I'm not sure you want that. The Chopper in neck sounds quite biting actually and the cleans sound decent - you can find clips of it clean on youtube.

I think the Chopper could be that middle ground that might satisfy thee.

Thanks Shredcow.....but i want a SC, not a rail pickup or any of that sort...those are more like humbuckers than SCs to me. The heavy blues 2 looks interesting though, high power yet still SC(altho hum cancelling). Good one.

I'm already using a dimarzio fast track 2 in the bridge, which is high output and i use it for heavy rhythm chug and tapping(cos my texas specials sound weak tapping) but i kinda miss the easy-to-legato feel of the neck humbucker of my old Sabre. But well cant have the best of both worlds la and since i want the sound of an SC in the neck position gotta just settle for cleaning up my playing instead.

I guess i'll just wait for you to be ready with 'em! *hint* :D
