That Epiphone LP ultra seems to be a slimmed down version eh.

Wood quality wise how is it? The new Greco LP seems to have a similar slimmer body like the ultra AFAIK.

it definitely differs from the other EPI LP offerings in terms of the body make/ spec.

*thinner depth
*chambered body
*chamfered rear
*satin finished rear

all these features manifest a more breatheable tone, more midrange definition + open sounding neck tone. the Ultra sounds very good with the default humbuckers.

So is it worth getting? I was thinking of putting a JB in it if I got one...

it's only worth it if it meets your needs- try it out & decide accordingly.

the default humbucker is adequate with the right amplifier. i played this guitar through a Randall & Peavey, sounded impressive through both.

if there is any considerations here then it'll be matters pertaining to the bridge. the wrap-over unit will have limited intonation applications, palm-placement needs a little getting used to for those of us who are too used to the tune-o-matic/ strat type bridge... until the price is announced, i won't comment on the real worth of this guitar.

and yes that gibson sg goddess is damn good! it sounds great all i can say. i heard subversion playing well on it. whooh! very good buy i think. very good high output pups. and wat more! it's satin finish!

i wasn't at the corner- was in the glass showroom for a while then plugged the SG Goddess into the solid state Randall behind the fax machine.

the ones at the corner were some chuch people who bought both the Epi Ultra & 60th Ann Std strat upon my recommendation.
