thor666: The knobs aren't missing.. Those are toggle switches.. The one on the Highway 1 lets me have the usual 5 Strat pikcup combis plus Neck & Bridge parallel, Neck Middle series and Middle Bridge in series.. The one on the no-name Strat gives me the 5 Strat combis plus Neck Bridge parallel and all 3 pickups in parallel..

gibbytones: It's not a Gibson LP jr.. The neck and body are from Warmoth and the paint job is airbrushed from some dude in Canada.. The rest of the guitar I DIYed..

Like I mentioned, more info on my webby..

Cheers!!

Hehe. ok so you're shaun. I emailed you regarding a Blues Driver before... long time ago.

oh, and i forget, welcome to soft, the land of the GAS and the ridiculous. :)

Cheers,
Raymond

Thanks.. It was a pain in the arse to get done, though.. The body went from Washington (state) where Warmoth is up to Canada, then to Chicago (cos I have an uncle there who can send stuff here for reeeeaaal cheap), then finally to Singapore.. The guitar took about a year to finish from the time I sent in the order to the time I played the first notes.. Well worth the time and trouble, though..

Woah thats a really cool LP man.
What pups did you put in and how does it play?

Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck.. I absolutely love the PG in the neck.. Fantastic sound.. The JB sounds more generic.. Even a bit colourless at times.. Toying with changing it out to another PG..

As for the playing, well, given the subjectiveness of a guitar's 'feel', I can only speak for myself.. I designed the neck to be as close to my Fender SRV Sig Strat neck as possible.. Thick and chunky with big frets and a 10" fretboard radius.. Suits me perfectly.. Never liked Gibson LP necks.. Too flat and too thin.. (Let's not even go into Ibanez necks.. Though I think ShredCow will disagree.. :P ) My only complaint is that the guitar's a little on the heavy side.. Actually, it weighs a ton.. Hell on the shoulders.. Also, because of the nickel covers, it can get microphonic at high, high gain, something I've been too lazy to fix, since I'm more of a low gain sort of player..

Nice array of collection there, pretty cool airbrush job on the LP! I too liked the Pearly Gates which was used in the bridge of my 1st guitar...raw and punchy :)

Believe it or not, I wish the fretboard was maple too.

Couldn't do much as I got one helluva deal on that Tele. Just couldn't pass it up.

To me painted maple fretboards with vintage frets just FEELS better.

nothing to do with tone here for me...

You know, I've never like the feel, nor the sound of a maple fretboard.. In fact, before buying my Jap Tele, I actually passed up on another Jap Tele of the same model, just with a maple fretboard.. And the body was red too.. There were other factors involved, of course, but the gist of it is that the maple fretboard didn't really sit right with me..
