fretboard problem

hi guys, it seems that i have something unusual going on in my fretboard!

it's not dry, because i just used lemon oil a couple of days ago. i dunno if i put too much, but some funny white flakes became more obvious in the wood. i mean these little white cavities and crap were there before i oiled it, cause i thought the fretboard was dry. but turns out they're still there.

cant explain, but a picture paints a thousand words!

there those wood grains have some white stuff in it.

looks like some clogged pores man. were u consistent in putting lemon oil? looks like some dirt or grime or maybe its too dry, perhaps a sanddown or a little steel wool cleaning?

polish residue maybe ....use light degreaser to remove then apply lemon oil to clean and shine...even those soft steel brush can help but be gentle!!

Try using a toothbrush, most likely it's just build up from i dunno what. Doesn't really affect playability or anything else, play the hell outta it!

It just happens that particular slab of rosewood has bigger pores :)

the 1st pic look normal, the second one almost look like mines before i oil it. Not sure is it the same, but look like it How did you oil it?

My those white thingy went off when i oiled it

My oiling method (not too sure correct or wrong) is to actually kind of flood the fretboard but not to the extreme, after that i use some clean rags and wipe them in circular motion to clean off the excess oil and wipe off the dirts then i leave it for a night before i string them up

you using what lemon oil ar? i heard before some furniture lemon oil use liao got residue left behind one

It's normal.. Just your dead skin trapped in the fretboard.. It turns white because when you rub it, the top layer of crap that has turned black comes off leaving the not so black crap.. Sorry for sounding sick.. I'm in a funny mood this evening...
