Everytime I see such articles/photos/videos I just get so angry at the narrow-mindedness of society, in this case, Mexico. The homophobia there is just too much, until it turned to violence.. beating people up cause they don't dress right, cause they don't conform to punk/metal subculture.
And f*** the so called metal and punk kids, only brainless dumb jocks beat people up cause they feel like it.
All these counter cultures were setup in the first place because we disliked the way things were done normally, education system, war, corporations, homophobia, stereotyping. And now the counter culture has gained power and it itself has become an authority, telling people what to wear, what music to listen to, and who to love.
This is more than just "anti-emo".
This is how people choose violence to solve problems, and not even an important and major issue.
"the emo subculture is identified with homosexuality in Mexico"
"At the core of this is the homophobic issue. The other arguments are just window dressing for that"
"What do you do when you are confronted with a question mark about sexuality in Mexico?" Arellano said. "You beat it up."
"But Arellano said he thought the riots could have a positive impact here in the US."
"It's a great clusterfuck for the American mind's idea of Mexico," Arellano said. "This teaches the rest of the world that Mexico is not just a bunch of cactuses and sombreros."
And what the eff is up with those last two quotes.. this Arellano dude obviously insecure about his Mexico's image.
