Fender-Jap ST-50

the Jap Fenders are absolutely worthy guitars but because they bear the 'Fender' monicker, they're always put down as second best in light of the American makes. i deem the Jap Fenders to be superb guitars per se. would buy it even if it's devoid of the Fender tag...

Who put them down?!?!?!!?!?!? Refer them to me... I EDUCATE them for you...

How do you play a guitar with the string off the neck???

What makes you think the guy plays so high up? whahahaha... Honestly? I don't know. I only know that it was the SAME guitar I had rejected just 20 mins earlier. I walked out with a fantastic Surf Green AVRI62 after that instead... whahahaha... (much cheaper also).

fender japan, they're GREAT. cept that certain models like the Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang/Bottommaster have not so great pickups.

and where else can you get a Paisley Tele or a Antigua Finish Strat without breaking your bank account??

ST-72 review available in the database but wait till it's fully restored...

i own this guitar- fantastic single coil unit. it's compared too much to the American in terms of construction/ wood generics which should not be the case.

Honestly, Everytime I buy a guitar, the pickups are never an issue for me, cos I'm always prepared to change them. Heh. Furthermore, I always test a guitar unplugged first. If the guitar acoustically isn't good, then plugged in won't help much either...

maybe NOT ! Unless i am tone deaf !!

heh heh.... maybe you are! *ducks from gooosseefraaabaaaaahhhh*

the jazzmaster pickups used on the CIJ Jazzmaster are simply strat like regular single coils mounted inside a hugeass Jazzmaster cover. I rewired a few CIJ Jazzmaster with Duncan Jazzmaster pickups. The difference is night and day.... or unless i am tone deaf!!! ;)

Another question, I was browsing thru the Fender japan webpage and the ST-72 is under Vintage while ST-50 is under J-Craft. What are the difference between the two categories... I thought J-Craft are in-charge of building Prestige Ibanez???

some stuff...

1. The Jap Fenders sport a gloss neck, mostly. if you are used to the Les Paul feel, these would be an adverse selection. for those of us who aren't too keen on lacquered necks (myself included), the playability is enough lure- the reason i bought one...

2. Yes, the Jap Fenders are handled by the J-Craft team responsible for the Jap Ibanez Prestige- no surprises there. we know (at least i do...) that they make good guitars whichever brand name appears on the headstock...

yes, absolutely. satin finish is devoid of that sticky feeling...

Depends on material used for finishing. Satin Nitro can actually get more sticky with your pespiration and dead skin coats it after a while... Can be cleaned off, but if you don't clean it off, it's ugly, and uncomfortable...

i own an ST-72 myself.

the sticky glossy neck takes a bit of using to, but all in all, a great buy.
if only they have it in nitro finishing. sigh...

sub, does the st72 feature the kind of gloss that makes your dead skin cling all over it with stickyness? if it doesnt, i'm actually willing to try out a glossed neck...
i remembered you told me this quite long ago.
a challenge is neccessary once in a while..

this lacquer grade is quite different from the typical Gibson's; it offers max playability but that sticky feeling is unavoidable. however, it's not as sticky as the former. i feel that it has a solid overall feel, something less organic but very playable.

haha, guess what guys, after so long... i finally got my Fender... Got a second hand 60th anniversary strat... haha... thanks for all the help

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience with the ST-50 or the ST-72? Cause I've short-listed this two for my next guitar.

I have had one for abgout 5 months and it soundgood through my marshall when you use it through a tube screamer it's quiut mellow hasn't got that real crunch but if you use normall distortion you can get it to scream then but over all a nice guitar with that single coil sound you look for
