fake jems and what 1 englishman thinks of singapore

Or isit because those fake companies put the "made in singapore" labels on their fake guitars? But i seriously feel tat he has mistaken singapore as part of china. My sis went to america once and the people sshe met there thought singapore is part of china. mayb u should tell him to come to singapore one day and check it out himself.

...or maybe you could just tell that englishman to get his head out of his ass before he shoots off his mouth.

Perhaps he thinks surfing ebay all day makes him a "globetrotter".

someone was trying to sell off a fake JEM on luther or here awhile ago. but as the english say it, that guy is a right twat.

Ant is such an airhead. personally, i do find it offending too. i dont even think singapore makes ONE guitar per year. ( could be wrong here )

I posted a response.

Let's see what happens.

However he does have a point...although one which is inaccurate.

It saddens me that we're not entirely clean in this whole copy/fake controversy. The guy's selling a decal, while not blatantly screaming fake, it's still at the end of the day a copyright infringement. Furthermore just take a look around a few selected stores here with knock-offs of several signature ibanez models and then there's guy on luther pedaling off a fake 7vwh.

Yes it's not fakes in their entirety, just copies...

But honestly folks, lets not kid ourselves.

dat guy is pure dumb, if he were to boycott singapore products because it was fake, he wouldn't be able to even post those messages, because we make 90% of world's harddisks, and im sure hes using 1 of ours

dumbass

he could have mistaken an Ibanez guitar for a toy one. my friend has seen one plastic kid's toy guitar with the Ibanez logo imprinted on the headstock somewhere here in Singapore. hell, even the bridge has a 'floyd rose' design .

but seriously, I think everyone can tell the difference between a toy and a real guitar

taka's toy section used to have a near perfect JEM WVH toy guitar, down to passable intonation and the lopro edge..
this little gift shop in the basement of lucky plaza had a toy S540 S-series guitar...imagine that...an exact copy.

im kicking myself for not buying either at the time...when i went back they were gone.

dear friends

it is rather disturbing, in this day & age, that people who are suppossedly more educated than their predecessors, could end up portraying themselves as ignorant fools. but i guess that's human nature after all, once one is inflicted with frustration, one tends to think with one's BUM instead of using one's brain... *tsk, tsk, tsk*

this is the reason why i prefer being here at SOFT than elsewhere- when it comes to non-american wares, non-americans tend to dismiss certain issues with disrespect.

i would like to urge you to have limited involvements with such forums. thanks to jeremy for trawling that site & keeping us in the know.

The guy's an idiot.

indeed! i wonder if he even knows that singpore is so small, that we can fit inside a single lake somewhere in new zealand. if there was a factory producing fake guitars, we'd know lol. 'sides, the labour cost here is pretty high, the cost of producing a darn fake would definitely not be worth it.

Hey, guys.

It's just an opinion. Read and forget about it.

It's just an online world here. He doesn't want to buy from Singapore, that's his own loss.

Remember something that's relic and its parts ripped also counts as a fake.

I really don't think that it is a matter of JEMs here at all. This guy is basically trying to say that SG is a place of counterfeiting. I do not care about JEMs or wat not but what is of concern to me is the credibility of SG online buyers/sellers.

Well. Then just politely disagree and beg to differ on JEMSite, and explain why.

I look at the replies to Ant, and it seems also while we might be correct, we also sound off as feverishly patriotic and blinded by the loyalty of being a Singaporean to consider about the possibility of fakes being made in Singapore.

it seems that both sides are in the wrong. in the first place, 40% of the world's population that have heard of Singapore, believe the country is related to China. Thats mostly because of the majority being chinese here. In the early days businesses & trades that flourished made Singapore known around the world as a CHINESE place. Others dont really care because they see SEA as being part of The Far East & thtz all. So therez nothing to complain about. We have to live with it.

Secondly, whatz all this talk abt "singapore confirm no production of fake guitars"? Therez a very high possibility and this kind of mindset is lethal. Correcting the so-called englishman just once would have been enough. And he did reply w/o any further bad intention. I dont see a point attacking again & again.
