Expression pedals

Anyone with experience with expression pedals? i wanna get one for my ehx holy stain.. however does seem to have much choices in the market..

currently looking at the moog and devi ever peep (leaning more to peep as it saves a hell lot of space)

The Peep will rely on light aye? I don't about how... viable that is. Maybe Pathein has tried it?

I know the Devi Ever was developing a mini volume/expression pedal thing... Boss sized. Wonder if he/she is still working on it...

the peep isn't really for standard expression pedal usage. for example if you're using a standard rocker pedal, and you are adjusting the speed of a phaser, you'd press the pedal down till the desired speed. but with a peep when you move your foot over, perhaps the speed will increase, but if you wanna keep at it that speed you'd have to leave your foot over the peep, because once you remove it the speed will go back to the default. if i'm not wrong.

in term of sturdy one, i like m audio one

in term of cheap and working one, i like proel one

Moog one, is too big for the size and if wanna use for moog pedal(the value of the pot inside work best with moog pedals) If not, there are cheaper alternative

peep is using a light dependent resistor(LDR) if not wrong. While its a cool thing to play around with, if really want to control effect parameter and use it in normal way. Go with the traditional expression. Playing with LDR unless you can control the surrounding light and make sure the condition is sorta fixed when you wanna control the parameter, if not, can be either really cool, or really way off when controlling the parameter

theres nothing much inside an expression pedal other then a pot, stereo cable and plug.

as long as the exp pedal work with the pedal and the entire sweeping range of the parameter being controlled work withing the entire range of the exp pedal sweep, it ok.

Heh, if really wanna be playing with expression pedal, get a cheap one, buy cheap linear pots from simlim, interchanged with different value to get the best sweep, for which ever parameter we want it to control. Throw in a dpdt switch, you can change the orientation of the exp pedal sweep as well. Its a simple mod for exp pedal and its one of the mod for toneczar modded eb expression pedal as well.

in short, a cheap exp pedal and expensive exp pedal, theres not much different other than the value of the pot inside and the material for the casing. Go with the one that fit budget and work with the pedal.

ah the dawn quite hard to rotate it up n down quickly.. as for the peep not being able to maintain a desired parameter it's ok, im intending to use it like the whammy.. however the prob of the light has surfaced.. hmm..

Install a powered USB port... then attach a Laptop Light... those bendy ones.

I think Beavis Audio did that - check out his site, on making his custom pedalboards. (he needed lighting)

The Yamaha FC-7 is the best made. It's rock solid and it sweeps further than cheaper more girly pedals. It's kind of large, heavy and expensive though

The proel and roland ones are 5h1t.

+1 on the FC7. a little unwieldy though. sweep is sweet.

next best one, imo, is the m-audio one. range of sweep is there, but it ain't as smooth as the fc7.

i broke my proel pedal. so not worth it get that.

i haven't tried the moog ones.

another vote for maudio. cheap and usable. not the best of the best but its cheap and usable and i like it.
