theres something called mutiple channels on the amp.

do they always provide the footswitch or do u have to get a guy to press the channel switch button when u give him a nod?

OKay here comes mine.

Fender Telecaster/Epiphone DOT --> Fingers(i try to play widely and musically) -->BB535 (no Q) --> Hotcake (add clarity and slight touch of grit) --> TS7 (808 specs, for most of the lead tone boosting) --> Boss SD-2(discontinued dual overdrive. I switch between channels on this one for lead or rhythm) --> Boss EQ(even more boost or clean channel sweetener) --> Boss BF-2 (for those flangey moments) --> Ibanez DE7 (delay delay elay lay ..) --> Fv50 for tuner out and dropping volume back when needed.

That finishes it.

In terms of versatility? No.

if you are thinking of small amps, then it's a valid concern.

bigger amps have adequate channel selections for tonal versatility. this + pickups manipulation during play, one would get a reasonable tonal option.

guitar -> Wylde od -> overdriven amp (for ripping marshall tones)
guitar -> Guyatone Metal Monster MMX -> clean amp (for slightly-Mesa tones)

Ya ya ya ..."straight into the amp and i rule with the big toy" talk is silly.

When you do covers and trying to survive or doin original music and trying to do the next cool thing ....lets see whether your big ass amp goona cook your soup !!

Btw "i can do the wah wah effect with my pickup selector switch"

thats why "cari makan" guitarists uses Boss multieffects and why not?

From britney to celine to eagles to doobastink to gnr to robbie to cat stevens, you'll need multi effects!

either that or they use ridiculously huge pedalboards with too many effects that weighs a ton :D

Guitar>KEELEY LOOPER-Channel 1(EHX Micro Qtron>EHX POG>KEELEY LOOPER) > RMC WIZARD WAH > CROSSROADS LOOPER

-CHANNEL A/B(EHX METAL MUFF>FOXROX ZIM>MI AUDIO CRUNCH BOX2 > MI AUDIO BLUES PRO2> XOTIC BB PREAMP>CROSSROADS LOOPER

-CHANNEL B (BOSS AC-2>BOSS EQ 20)

-CHANNEL C (VS H20)

CROSSROADS LOOPER > ERNIE BALL VOLUME PEDAL>AMP

TUNER OUT> KORG DT10

:D

Looking at Snuff's board, I want a Boss Acoustic Simulator again... would be nice for some different tones during a show... though, I've heard it on a professional record (RAGE's Soundchaser album) and its a very interesting texture.

packed toight like sardines! i'm still trying to find a way to put in the damn eb vol pedal on my board :x
