Explain Your Setup!

My set-up is:

Compaq Presario -> Presonus Firebox/ Firepod -> Behringer MIDI foot controller -> PA system -> 50 screaming semi-naked female groupies...

I see a foxrox!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ease of use.. guitar>amp rocks.. but but

If you like using crazy effects.. modulation stuff.. then.. you definately need pedals,.

Ya ya ya ..."straight into the amp and i rule with the big toy" talk is silly.

Btw "i can do the wah wah effect with my pickup selector switch"

Its almost becoming a competiton...

Next what... I only have my Top E and bottom E on. Dont need the rest. And oh straight to the amp of course.

But tis true no? No way an amp will allow you to do a wah, switch to phaser during chorus, switch to delay with tap tempo and flanger in the loop and chaotic feedback looping on a chorus while simultaneously turning on and off a tremolo and wah filter in the bridge.

Maybe some new amp with a built in multieffects and a programmable footswitch to control all the effects? But then again that kinda makes it a pedalboard too.

those who integrate modulation FX/ wah/ etc don't employ a straight guitar+amp setting. there are some of us here who have done away with that kinda set up hence the guitar+amp preference...

If I had the same amp that Mattias Elkundh is running thru, some Laney VH100 or something, AND could turn it up sufficiently loud... I wouldn't need gain pedals. :D That's a tone I want.

I guess we should redefine that statement then.

"Nothing beats guitar->amp for a guy that has the right amp and doesn't need to use modulation or other special effects"

"Nothing beats guitar->effects->amp for a guy who doesn't have the right amp, or needs to do crazy shit sounds"

it really depends on the individual i guess....and the type of tone needed, some guitarists just want that BIG natural OVERDRIVE sound and nothing else(maybe reverb), so amp to guitar would work for them...

for the guitarist who is less simple, he would require lots of EFX at his perusal akin to a tonal palette of colours, artistically speaking... :D

Its all about individual preferences methinks :D

Or for the guitarist who actually do not own a means of transport for his amp aka tone machine, a pedalboard loaded with all that he needs is a much coveted idea. Albeit a massive board, if everyone's happy....why not?

For the guitar to amp advocates, it's a good thing....but I've been in gigs where a Roland JC is provided, you can try using your leg to kick the amp's input but it won't give u that natural/organic/hairy/transparent or whatever you call it overdrive tone

hey... donch like that....

the JC50 is the king of clean!!!

You're like asking the Bogner Uberschall to sound clean!

erm sorry edder, my JC60 is the king of clean..HAHAHAHAH :D

ok thats too much!

Seng Chai's JC120 is the King of CLEAN!!!!

I wonder if the JC120 are still there... its been more than 10 years! hahaha...

Yeah, i like the JC for use with my board and stuff. What i meant was, the advantages of having a board for ppl who don't own a car/van to bring their preferred equipment to gigs.

Bottom line: guitar to amp philosophy can, but when faced with such voiced amps......how to?

Just heard your sahasrara through rosli yesterday, shiokness la bro.

YUP I jam there almost every weekend, best working JC120's they have are at room 5, the rest, good luck bro, im not too sure...(some of their JC's(in other rooms) have blown speakers but the punk bands there dun really know) :D

LOL! You can try announcing only making 15 units a year, backlog due to haze and economy outlook.....then only allow phonecalls for order + 2 custom finish a year.

He does not only make anything sound good, he made me sound like crap also :? Then again, i really need more practice and woodshedding than what i think should be....do you still do the Boss talent pedal mod?????

that one is scheduled to be released concurrently with my rice emulator pedal in 2020.

have difficulties in programming the "mouthfeel" algorithms for the rice emulator.... dammit... mouthfeel... how the hell you do that!!!!

i just need the windmill and split jumps! Details as depicted below:

- Rate controls how fast the windmill
- Gain = how high split jumps
- Freq controls the whirring sound of windmill hand

As for mouthfeel, i believe you have to mod some lup cheong to fit on our mouths.....circuitry will automatically cringe/pout depending on toggle set to vintage/80s

If I do that, Pete Townsend will want to claim royalty from me.... better wait for Digitech to release their Signature series for this!
