Ernie Ball Stainless Strings

don't know about u guys but i don't have to change strings till they break. they do oxidize and turn black but no rust whatsoever. believe it or not my last set of strings lasted me almost a year. i never had the need to worry about steel parts rusting(at home at least!). i guess the humidity level in my house is pretty low.

just my luck.

i just remembered i have a friend who has this SX guitar for 2 years already, never change strings before, his string isnt 1 bit rusted. how is this possible.

as i've said previously, its probably due to the low humidity level in an area. my neighbour who lives just across the block has to maintain his strings well or they will rust in like 2 days. i guess ur fren is just as lucky. one of the reasons i store all my gear at home.

of course, daily habits like wiping ur strings after u play will help to promote string life to a certain extent.

ernie balls sound great and play well but they boast nothing in terms of endurance. while other brands might not finger as well, they surely last way longer than ernie balls.

so what are the pros of Reinforced strings? wont break easily? they showed stainless string in their website, so this strings wont rust right?

Reinforced Strings? like the RPS series? Those are mainly reinforced at the ball end. Doesn't apply if you're using a floyd rose, or a strat type bridge as the breakage is seldom in that area...

But personally, it like the RPS... just a psychological thing...

Yes, it's possible. My Les Paul's strings are on since the day I bought it. That makes it 6 months. My friend who borrowed it for a recording yesterday, thought they were new strings.

And I play the LP every day, mind you...

whitestrat, you talking about your slash lp? man that axe is sexy
those coloured ones i bought at davis never rusted, but colour faded lol

For coated strings, I'd recommend Dean Markley Alchemys. The tone was superb and they lasted damn long. They felt great, too, with very little string noise. They cost $16 per pack at Davis if I remember correctly.

However, I don't seem to have a problem with string life. I wipe my guitar strings very often and keep my guitars in their gigbags when I'm not playing for long periods of time, and it seems to work. I don't even need to use any of those chemicals. Which is why I use either D'addarios or Ernie Balls (uncoated). Cheap and good, at least for me.

I don't like keeping my guitar in my gig-bag. When I wanna practice again, I would take it out and it would end up untuned and you'd have to tune it again. I don't like tuning. I take a very long time to tune and its very frustrating. I'm a very slow-tuner. And I have no idea why.

Well.. Get used to tuning. Practise makes perfect, besides, tuning is something you can't avoid so you might want to get used to it and get better and better at it, and practise is the only way. Low-end guitars won't stay in tune as well as high-end guitars, of course. Down the road, when you have high-end guitars and hardcases to go with it, you won't have to worry about it going out of tune.

My guitars are usually still perfectly in tune when I remove them from their gigbags... So it is not a problem for me.

you can try changing to locking tuners which might* help in keeping your guitar in tune...

*I don't have locking tuners... so this may not be accurate.

Yeah okay, I'll work on my tuning.

Oh and YEAH THE TUNE LOCK. I've had my eyes on em' and I tend to forget to search for them when I'm with my friends at some shops.. But nah, i don't think I need em'. I'll just work on my tuning and get my tuning fast and perfect.

just buy a freaking tuner and tune ur guitar before u play.

no tuner might as well dont play. seriously.

I have, a tuner lol. What do you mean. And I tune, at least once a week or when I think its too far away from being tuned. I check by playing all strings and I know what a tuned or nearly-tuned sound, sounds like. And my guitar is rarely untuned, cos I hang it on my Guitar-Holder or whatever you call it.
