Juz came back from job search this morning and i passed by bras basah and decided to drop by swee lee. when i first stepped in to the shop i made my way to where they hanged all the epiphone guitar. suddenly i came across this guitar epiphone LP slash model. And i said to myself wow signature model for only $2000. But then i look at the back of the neck of the guitar and i said to myself again wth 'ensembled in china' or sumthing like tht in other words made in china. Then i surveyed all the epiphone les paul model and i found out tht almost every model price are $1000 ++. i think its better for me to buy the model from a softies which can cost me abt $600 to $700 range. Inconclusion, in my opinion, swee lee sold expensive china made guitar. Do you agree with me??

btw if you guys got any job 'lobang' can recommend to me im desperate to get a job hahahaha thanks!

Not really bro. Because actually the price stated on the price tags aren't the selling price. You have to ask the retail person there and ask the selling price. I think LP standard is selling around 700-800 at sweelee. I might be wrong tho..Haven't visit their showroom for some times. But I know this discounted retail price is a common practice at sweelee...

How to get a job if you never mention what kind of job you're looking bro :D

I disagree with you totally. whats wrong with being made in china? made in china epiphones are not as bad as you think they are, change your mindset! 80% of the world's good you see today are made in CHINA, but does that mean they are bad? NO! Even if they are really that low quality, always try and check out the guitar to judge its worth, and the flaws too. and not despise it just because its MIC.

furthermore, $2k is before the usual Swee Lee discount which is around 30% or 40% off.

and bear this in mind, if you buy from soft, its not a new piece. it could be the second, third or fourth owner that is selling the guitar to you.

"ensembled in china"? /shakes head

no i don't agree with anything you say. i can compare a gibson melody maker to a historic goldtop, just because they're the same brand doesn't mean they have to cost the same. :S how can you say that it's expensive cos the other epiphones are cheaper?? also there is absolutely nothing wrong with a guitar made in china, there are guitars that are made in china that play better than those made in any other part of the world for sure. also, i hope you realise that the guitars here are used, compared to swee lee's new guitars. =/

ok..... if i wanted to buy epiphone LP guitar, where should i buy it? at swee lee? or maybe other guitar shop like guitar77? anyway what is bad abt epipihone MIC? i need to noe the pros and cons of this guitar before i buy it :)

I've owned plenty epiphones in the past. Lp standard, classic, dot, ultra, custom, zakk wylde, standard plus, explorer, flying v. I've tried both MIK and MIC. In my opinion MIC epiphones NOT always = crap but, I also think that MIC epiphone tend to have INCONSISTENT quality control. Some very good, some most likely fall into the "Crap" category. My advice is tryout as many as possible and grab the one that you feel the best. Like choosing a wife. Hahahaha :D

Other option is buy 2nd hand Gibson.

To quote a few other softies, it doesn't matter where the guitar originates. As long as it feels good in your hands, it's good.

would you buy a $5,000 Chinese guitar with excellent craftsmanship & tone to boot? many of us here won't because it's made in china- a sad state of country-quality appreciation.

chinese guitar aren't bad at any price. a bad guitar is a bad guitar regardless of the brand name & country of origin.

thanks dude!!!!! you are really the best!!!! i will follow ur advice. so usually MIK epiphones are better? so where can i get this MIK epiphones?

dun get so touchy on "made in china" guys... no one is saying your made in china products are bad...

bottom line is that production is shifted to china to cut cost, they shouldn't command the same price for the same grade of product fr korea/japan/US, not to mention that much higher

Very true! My Epiphone SG is one of the best Epiphones I've tried that, to me, beats most of the Gibbies I've tried! And it's MIC! I've come to understand that ANY guitar from ANY brand requires an inspection..
I've came across an MIC Stagg tele for 200 bucks that was Staggering (get it?)! Lol.. In a blindfold test, I would have guessed the bugger costs 1.2k? That's what I told the salesperson..
And I've tried plenty of dud Gibsons, seen Fenders with sloppy paintjobs and a horrid heel joint, etc..

At the end of the day, you need someone experienced to scout a guitar with you..

P.S: And if you're interested in the SG:

The pics are here.. The grain doesn't look too shabby! Plays even better..
