Email spamming, posting my email on Luthermusic classifieds

Hi all,

I'm kind of fed up with all the email spammings, right after i posted ads on Luthermusic classifieds with my email address there.
Wah... buay tahan...

Just wanna ask if anyone knows what's really happenning? :?
Is there someone playing around with our email addresses?
If so, how did he do it, what did he do?
Does "no_spam_ahtan@email.com" (pls remove no_spam_) really helps? :?
Hope there's some experts here in SOFT to help me understand.

You could use gmail... the spam filters there are pretty solid.

But yes, the "ahtanremovemenospam at gmail dot com" method does work, unless the spammers are smart enough now to use regex filters to compensate for this..

The way you get spam is that they get bots to crawl websites, looking for email@domain.tld addresses (in that format) and collect those addresses. Everything's automated, so it's nobody's fault on our end.

bro, your no spam method will help. if you still get spam, very likely someone is doing it manually.

if you put your actual e-mail, the spam crawler will retrieve it and send you a spam mail. it may also come from other sources where you have your e-mail available on the internet.

That is a very strange...I've been posting ads at Luther's Classified but no one's spammed me e-mail before...=/
