I'm hoping to do a simple survey on whether there is still a need for more new jam studios to be opened in future?

What is lacking in the jam studios in singapore that you hope to see in future? Besides equipment, rates and service?

Precisely.... LOCATION is another important factor...Any more areas or factors that is still lacking in jam studios. Sooner or later there will be jam studios in every corner of singapore.

I hope one day there will be dedicated building/place that sells and provide services related to music and only music...something like sim lim square
dedicated to computers, electrical and electronics...

we need a good quality one in bedok..something like soundmix...not like the one in changi...

we already have bluetail in east coast...but one not enough!

yeah...

most studios dont really bother much about their equipment once their business has started.perhaps the mentality is that once the cash flows in...all is well(while the jammers experienc irritating stuff lyk highly out of tune drums and bad tuning.)... :(

i'd travel for a good studio than walk 5 mins to a bad studio. *shrugs*

judging from the response to Guitar77, Soundmix and Fourtones, i'd say these few are the studios to model after. Central location, good equipment, friendly management.

The only thing lacking is AVAILABILITY of studios!! Have to book 2 weeks in advance nowadays!!

The real issue with LOCATION is.... not any place can open up studio. You mention jamming studio and premise owner will refuse to let you rent the place for fear of you disturbing neighbours etc. Theres also a need to get approval from URA. If beside the place you are eyeing are childcare centers or offices, for sure cannot open jam studio already.

advance

Two weeks? wah which studio so hot sial.....
There are some people who also book then never turn up, call them back they say they forget to cancel. Some kiasu block book then never tell the rest of the band members....thats why the lack of slots lah.

more definately better 4 jammers like mi........

n maybe got more jam studios the prices n equipments will be better?......

price

the price negotiation has already been done in a previous thread. You want good studios be prepared to pay for it, this one not pasar malam. Studio people must learn to live with one another, not kill each other over zealous price wars

i dun mind paying more if the studio is good actually...is there any jamming studio at pasir ris? i dowana travel half an hour to bedok to some $h1+ studio called eew eel and get crappy equipments.. more studios like fourtones wld be good.. better still friendlier owners.. i got kicked out from a jamming studio for playing loud music once, reason being it was a residential area.. doesnt makes sense no?

Yea i'd love to see a good jamming studio in the east area, particularly pasir ris/tampines/simei

studios

Really? Hmmmm... i didnt know the east side had a lack I thought it was more on the west side man.

Maybe I go open a small one next year....hahaah

Singaporeans are forever wanting lower prices. You want quality, you must pay for it. If you expect good equipment yet lower prices then many good studios will just die. Not enough demand plus must meet high overheads. Its not as if studio owners make hefty profits. Their profit margins arent great (unlike other businesses). So pls expect to pay more for good equipments. The good studios will close shop if people expect them to provide good stuffs yet expect them to charge low rates. If people are stingy, whats gonna happen is that only the low end studios with with crappy equipment will flourish. Sad.
