Definitely restring them myself.

Don't forget to clip off the pointy ends! Actually you don't need to but it looks more tidy haha.

DIY here. It's like changing your own underwear man. Your parents can do it for ya for awhile, but you really should learn to do it yourself ASAP :D

maybe he wanna change string gauge. if thats the case you might have to take it down for a set up if youre not to sure or youll risk messing up

Unfortunately though, I have absolutely no idea how to restring a floyd rose equipped guitar..
There are many guitars I find great, but this fact deters me from making the purchase..

1) loosen one screw at a time on the nut.
2) Change one string at a time in pairs. Tune up and stretch.
3) Try to keep the fine tuners right in the middle while balancing between the main tuners and the fine tuners.
4) After changing 2 strings, tuning and balancing, LOCK it.
5) Proceed with the rest of the pairs.

Use the same gauge if you don't want messy setups.

Note to self, keep this in mind when purchasing floyd-equipped guitars!

*sigh*

young people nowdays..
IMHO, re-stringing on your own, it's like communicating with your lover, in my case, my mistress,
it's like foreplay, you coaxed her, caress her, gets her wet in the lips before you proceed to the main course-shredding,string bending or whatever it takes to reach nirvana/orgasm

in my kampung times,if you do not know how to re-string-you are the joke of the kampung. you learn the basic chords and re-stringing..its the basics..for a fixed bridge guitar. we learn kapok first before going to congress. after that, then consider PASS.
only then "geetar karan"..which is usually a strat-copy, mostly vantage brand

for FR bridge, during my "training" time, it's usually associated when a player have a certain level of skill..."wah..he macam Van Halen sey.."
we called shredding at that time...goreng..yup..like goreng pisang..because when you "goreng" its like you are frying the fretboard..

so..im still stuck at fixed bridge because I CANNOT GORENG...sad..very sad..

+1. DIY all the way. Less troublesome since you don't have to bring your guitar to a shop, and pay extra $$. I think it is only right that if you own a guitar, you know how to restring it yourself.

the FR/ other floating bridge models should be a learning point for guitarists, it should not be seen as a bane.

if you are considering its application in light of your use, then some of us here might not need it. let's not paint a picture to the new players out there that this bridge type should be avoided at all cost. yes, it's a hassle when t comes to re-stringing but that's the nature of its being.

There was once I visited Ebenex at Roxy when Beez was still there. Some one came, had his epi serviced by Beez, and requested him to restring the guitar too, at a service charge. Owner didnt mind paying, but it was Beez who gently asked him to restring himself, so he can learn to do this thing himself...
