distortion

Oh i see.. So the rule of the thumb is tubes require high voltage for optimum performance, which means either they require a high voltage input or an internal transformer. Thanks for the insights.

Hmm.. Maybe those tube-pedals-wannabees should then install a toroidal transformer on the surface of the pedals to prove their true tubiness. No more dispute there I would think.
"Tube" as in vaccuum tubes. You heat up the cathode so it becomes hot enough to start releasing electrons which form a negatively charged "cloud" around the plate. Depending on the voltage between the anode and cathode, you can control the current flow - at what rate the electrons flow towards the anode. That's the simplest kind of a tube. Of course, the tubes used in amps are more complex, typically triodes, etc.

eh come one lah. the fab pedals arent that bad, just because they're too cheap. The performance to price ratio is much higher than you expect.Chances most of you did not even try them out when you made those very vague comments about it. You know why, cos those pedals sold out so fast!

i was reffering to the guy who said this guitarist who gave up his racks for a fab pedal...

but personally my view on dist pedals. like i always say.. its personall preference.

I didn't think that anyone would actually fall for that.Hahahaha...

I think that Dave Murray would have rolled on the floor laughing if he read that...

It was a joke,no harm intended.

when i was a little kid ...back when a strat looked like a 335 on me ....we used to hear tales on how "this cheap & humble pedal" blah blah ..

and we bought all kinda expensive multi effects instead  since guitar mags showed all the stars spotting one ....LIARS BLOODY LIARS !!!

I bought my first multieffect Zoom2020 cos its got ALL effects inside and its got the ultra unique Zoom Step modulation!

Also cos terrance Trent d'arby Reznor used the mini one for recording!

Zoom for life! Zoom for industrial "digital" distortion!
