DISTORTION DILEMMA!

thailoverboy: hey threadstarter, hope you do understand the fact that isnt any magical pedal that will make one sound like their guitar hero (this has been discussed till death here). even having exactly the same setup wouldnt help. what i can reccommend you is to save up more and get a decent amp first, and at the mean time try out more dirt pedals to see which suit your needs and playing more. hope im not sounding too harsh here.

+1. Amps play a very important part in tone quests.

hmm thx for the advice markedymark. yea finding time to go down to ebenez. but will something like the beez mod mt-2 last for long for me? and how much is a second hand tube zone? first hand too ex sia. i m jus thinking of getting a the ts7. dam cheap and fits my budget jus okay. what do ya guys think?

no prob mr shredder. i'm not understanding the "would it last a long time" part, i believe the modded one would be able to satisfy your drive needs for a pretty long time.

as sleepy kittly said, the ts 7 is pretty mildish for my taste as well. =)

try mt-2 beez mod, its going for 140 bucks.. with 3 types of distortion in it,
imo i would have never dreamt of buying an mt-2, but now im funding for it..
x)
or u can get a not so intense distortion (eg. ds-1, rocktron metal planet) and use it in a chain with a subtle overdrive (ts-7, guyatone od)
that way, it gives u a larger tonal option..

Thx softies.yes i know amps plays an important part in tone quest but what hell man i m only like 16 now. dun u expect me to own some 100 watts marshall stack amp. lol. but thx for the advice anway. :) Oh yea i think the second option would be better for me to get a ts7 and another distortion pedal for more tonal options. hmm. how much is it to mod the mt-2 from beez?

not asking you to own a stacked set up, just something for you to understand. regardless of your age, i think it's good to now the mechanics of tone rather than believing the conventional talk.

quote Shredaholic: hmm thx for the advice markedymark. yea finding time to go down to ebenez

i'm sure you mean ebenex 8)

you can call ebenex & aske beez how much the store charges for that MT-2 mod (assuming you are referring to beez's mod). he'll get it done on the spot so worth the wait 8)

beez mode gives you 3 different distortions for more tonal options.
the ordinary saturated mt-2 (like bees in a can -_-), a fat overdrive
and another crunchy distortion.. all in all, its a fat load of GAS.. :D
well.. you'd never have guessed it's an mt-2.. try it and love it!

Other than Beez, there is Randolf.

Actually, personally, I will recommend Randolf over Beez and I will recommend a visit to Randolf over going to Ebenex.

Reason being - Randolf will explain to you the finer nuances of tone tweaking. You'll come away with a better understanding of what mods do to your pedals, how to tweak the amp, how to maximise your el cheapo multiefx.. etc etc.

That is priceless.

Of course, if you go to Randolf and he really takes the hours to explain and demo to you, you better buy something from him as a show of appreciation lah. Don't pull a Singaporean on him. I don't suppose you would do it though...
