Hi . i jus got a dimarzio dual sound pickup. it's actually a Super Distortion with a push-pull toggle for a series/parallel option.so those with the SD can help me with this also.

I bought it cos i wanna get the 70s metal (iron maiden) and X japan's tone.

However i also play thrash metal (metallica). while i noe i cant get metallica without EMGs, i'm wonderin is this pickup flexible enuff to play heavy scooped mid metal(chugga chugga stuff), cos the heaviest tone i heard from this pickup is from paul gilbert and hide which isnt tharsh metal heavy.
gonna install on a ibanez SZ320, if it helps.

hence i hoping to seek your experinces with this pickup b4 i install it.thnks!

Thrash metal? Nope. The Dual Sound (which is a Super Distortion thru & thru) has a more.... well... its meant for high gain vintage-y tone.
It doesn't have a scooped mids eq too.

Consider the Steve's Special or X2N for thrash.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I think shredcow and markedymark meant is (and if I'm reading between the lines correctly) 'nothing sounds bad on a Mesa'...meaning that what suckasucks said was obvious since everything sounds best on a Mesa.

i'm going with EMGs. got a pair of 2nd 81-85 for a gd price. abt time i try out actives!haha X2N is 1 of the pickups i love to try some dae though.

this is my set up :

guitar->ts-7->MXR doubleshot->Boss Harmonizer->MXR Mircoamp->Randall RX30D(30 watt,SS).

think it will b a gd fit for EMG??i don play much clean and i like the "evil" clean from emgs as well haha, great for metal IMO.not warm at all.i'll have other guitars for clean/warm in the future hahah

goose...ya x2n best for direct amp distortion ..
but still ok la...for dirt pedal...i think same situation with Invader..

pls correct me if im wrong ...im a newbie ..:)
