Digitech multi effects question

I've read from all over the net, people saying how digitech's multi effects sounds real "digital", and that it was not good.

I don't think I will be able to hear the difference though, is it really that bad?
And what multi effects would you reccomend if the most I could spend was $250+-?

Thanks for reading!

Zoom G2.1u?
Cheap and fairly usable.

Some people can hear the distinct difference between analog and digital. And therefore, only they should be concerned about the digital/analog sound issue.
Since you can't, then there's really no point in fussing over it. It's all fine.

i have a digitech gnx3000 which sounds real good, or at least way better than the podxtl imo. i see it at a point of not sounding digital, but not sounding analog either.

most importantly is you've got to learn how to tweak to suit ur individual amp and guitar. then it will sound great!

i read a website of a person plotting a graph on the various spectrums of frequencies of the different multi efx (digitech, boss and pod) against analog pedals and such. when i find it i'll post it..

You can try the behringer Vamp2, read lots of good things abt it especially on the ultra G cab modelling, heard some very impressive clips too.
