Which to get? money aint a prb as i've saved up juz abt enough to get either one.

But which is better in terms of usage, recording and stuff?
If anyone owns them could u also put in ur input?

Thanx!
Cheers!

the Jam Man has flash card storage which is absent in the BOSS. if you do not connect your looper to the computer all the time, the JM would be a better pick.

I just got a JamMan and I'm still exploring it at the moment. Yes, having an external compact flash card is one of the reasons to sold me to it instead of the BOSS. Got a 2 gig card that can store like 6.5hrs worth of loops. Couple it with the optional footswitch and you have a greater control of the playback of your loops.

However, the JamMan has only 1 mono output, as compared to the RC50, which has stereo output. There's also the RC-20XL and the new single-pedal RC-2 for your considerations, although the lack of external storage card greatly limits their funtionality, imo.

1st off, sorry for the late reply as i juz got back frm camp!

next, thanx for all the input! really valuable in gelping me make my descision!

As for the RC50, it has a USB input/output as well, but im not sure if i can load the loops and or add the loops in and out of the RC50 and also like save them to the comp!

The RC50 really a catches my attention cos of the design and usages.
So does the JamMan but the turn off is ive to get a seperate pedal to select the loops!

Geez .... help me somebody haha!

This is wat i got frm the Roland.com. By this, i pressume dat we dont need a "Memory Card" like the JamMan does, though one will be usefull, thus, saving and loading back saved files (Momory Patches) can still be done, except u gotta connect the whole RC50 to the comp!

When you use a USB cable to connect the RC-50's USB port to a compatible USB-equipped computer, you can:

back up the RC-50's data to the computer.

restore RC-50 data stored on the computer back into the RC-50.
export the RC-50's phrase data to the computer as WAV files.
import WAV files from the computer into the RC-50.

Note:
The RC-50 operates as a USB mass storage class device for file transfer and does not provide USB MIDI functionality.

you are the only one who can help yourself in choosing, imho

since both are able to store loop, one in the form of memory card, the other thru computer via usb for the transfer, so i guess you will have to choose which one you prefer.

the midi part most likely mean it doesnt work as a midi interface via usb

the additional foot pedal for the jam man, even if combined together, is still smaller than the rc50. But then the layout of the rc 50 is actually more convienience for looping..

and so which one, will you prefer?

i have the jamman and its pretty awesome. i use it as a sampler more than a looper, though. what's good about it is that it gives sampling and looping functionality in a package that actually fits on a pedalboard, plus the external footswitch doesn't take up much space either. the recording quality is excellent (think cd-quality), and the options are pretty great once you get used to them. the only drawback for me is that i'm not very good at getting it to loop nicely when i'm playing with my band because the switches are a little erratic. could just be my unit, though.
the rc-50 is actually probably better if you are a loop-based performer, especially if you do solo stuff. if you're just going for basic looping and sampling then i'd say the jamman wins out.

Nice to know others taking interests in Looping here. Live Looping is a very intergral part of my current setup be it acoustic, electric, solo or group format. I was previously using the Line6 DL4 which allows up to 28secs of "non-undo" phrase capturing. Currently I'm using the Boss Loop Station RC50 in my Mon to Fri Solo gigs at Harry's (Harbour Front and Millenia Walk) and also in my teaching gigs. The Loop Station also serves as a very useful compositinal tool.

As a user of looping concepts in my own creative and professional gigs I can offer the following tips about choosing the right looping tool for your own needs.

1. Do you want to use it with prerecorded phrases and one shot samples or live as in on the fly?
2. Do you need storage?
3. Do you need undo function
4. Do you need single or multiple phrases
5. How's your sense of timing and maintaining tempo?
6 Are you using this as a sonic gimmick are an intergral part of your music.
7. Ar you using it as a soloist or with a group?

:)

Where are you getting yours from? Was thinking of getting it from music123.com for USD300, but waiting for some kind of discount on it.

Isnt the CF card used just a regular one that can be obtained from any IT shop?
