Delay Mania

i noticed that many delays are one men's poison and other men's gift from god. what are your delay preferances?. and why. no need to keep it to just one

I have an echopark and dd3 on my board... the echopark for the wacked out "experimental" delay stuff, the dd3 for those simple "adding dimension" delay stuff. I use delay alot, and having both means i dont have to keep tweaking btw songs, so its for convenience/practicality for me to have both...

DIAMOND MEMORY LANE!!!

Its a really warm delay. Gets muddy at times though. Its a great pedal. versatile. Nice tap tempo feature.

Upon saying this, its currently the only delay on my board. Adding another one as soon as i get the moolah. Im eyeying a DD5.

Why? External Tap Tempo =p
Small footprint
Triplet Delay
Dotted Eights Delay

Ibanez EM-5s... been using them for... what... over a year? Supposed to be the best tape-echo-wannabe in a pedal.

That's a sample and I was running 2 EM-5s in series for a multi-tap sound. I got 3 em-5s.

The other delay that I use for more obvious applications is the wonderful Boss DD-3. MIJ please. Interesting in that - its clearly a clear, bright digital delay but you never think of the words "cold" or "harsh", unlike the current DD3s or the DD5/6. This one I own 2, also for multi-tap applications.

Yeah, I would have 4 delay pedals on my board if I could figure out how to tap dance that much.

Some delays I've tried and they disappoint - the most recent and probably the most disappointing would be the EHX #1 Echo. This.. was... blurgh. Metallic tinge to the repeat trails... just uninspiring. Plus the price tag wasn't... didn't justify its uses and sound.

 Pathein bro! Dun like that lar... the threadstarter was trying to ask for PREFERENCES so we can all chip in to what's the bestest delay in the world! Pity.. I dunno where the threadstarter has gone... hmmm....

NeWay. Answer your challenge!

Roland Space Echo.

It will distort and delay at the same time. Where to get?

haha, i was trying to mean more than just what i wrote..

anyway, you wanna the real space echo, go japan, i seen a lot on their auction site and the price is below 400sgd for some, some i seen only round 200+sgd. Spoilt or working, that i not sure

misse has the re201, it doesnt distort like distortion, but the sound is really of its own world that even echoczar or moog delay also cant get.

I recently tried the new tech21 delay, the Boost DLA. Extremely impressed. Almost bought on the spot, but i need to clear up some debts from last month, took alot of self control to walk way. Was better then the dd-20 on the mimic-ing analog department.

It has a very nice hi cut control on it to tweak the tone of the repeats , plus also modulation and a level for overall sound and level for the repeats. All digital delay. Spent over 30mins test running out, thanks to the nice guys at tymc. Definitely in my purchase plans.

At the moment my fav delays are the boss dd-2 and dd-3. Small, compact, good sounds. DD-3 also easy to come by.

Hehe.
Dude, I cannot read between your line leh... only 1 line!

That said... I did hear a space echo in person before... I cannot imagine lugging it around. I cannot imagine the upkeep. It sounds nice sure... but it didn't make me go gaga.

Maybe I need to get older. Hmmm..

The Boost DLA is something I really want to try. Need to a/b it...

Nano - the hi cut control, lowering it, what happens? Just hi cut and nothing else? Do the repeats fatten up, distort, go out of phase, etc etc etc

Then the modulation - its just ... like the EHX stuff?

Lowering the high cut gives it a very nice "analog" type feel. I felt it can even get really close to the analog tones of a moog delay. What i like about the pedal is it doesn't distort, thats why i like digital delays. The modulation is nothing wacky.

It does fatten up the repeats besides cutting the highs. Turning it down makes it darker and fatter and up brings in more clarity and more to the digital delay side of things. I don't remember hearing any distortion on the repeats as they get darker.

A mix of pitch shift/chorus. Nice sounding and on extremely levels can do some serious detuning. More subtle then the EHX stuff.

Controls are very interactive and sensitive. Not a delay for ppl who dread to tweak.

bro shrew, since its one line, then you gotta read in between the words!

anyway, the many delays in magicstomp and ud stomp rocksss me off. These 2 are prolly the most interesting and colourful one that i have tried.

Line6 DL4 FTW!!!!!

hahaha... i dunno man... all delays are nice. Deluxe Memory Man, Echomachine, Boss DM2, Echopark.... they're all good.

i tried the tc nova delay yesterday at ebenex. must say im pretty impressed and ill prob be getting one some time this year. loved the tweakability, even though there were many nice settings, reverse delay was also a big plus.

nova delays and reverbs run on 12v. it comes with the adaptor.

we only have 1 piece of nova reverb left in stock.

thanks!

im using a deluxe memory man ... very nice for what i do ...

but im saving up for a Moog Delay.

that is truly beautiful delay...ay..ay...ay...ay...
