Deathcore and Metalcore. Metal?

Can't hear that at work now..but as far as I now Headbanger's ball should be your last reference to metal if not at all, the last time I saw that show it was pure crap.

yeap. Headbanger's ball is under MTV and therefore is metal shown there isn't really "metal"

Its the fact that we want our love, our passions, to remain pure and untainted. That is why we dont want the association factor.

Heavy metal borrows plenty of influences from various genres.

Thrash metal got influences from hardcore punk. Early death metal borrows influences from grindcore and hardcore. Progressive metal is influenced by progressive rock. Neo-classical metal was influenced by classical music. Gothic metal was influenced by gothic rock. Traditional heavy metal itself was influenced by blues-rock.

And the list could go on.

So can you still say that heavy metal should remain "pure and untainted"? That's is just a sign of narrow-mindedness. If you want to keep on listening to the same music, then fine.

True that heavy metal borrows alot from other musical style. I have no problem with that,in fact its has always been like that. But we got to understand that -core and metal are different in thier own ways. You might like -core music and metal the same but you have got to learn to differentiate both style.

I'm seriously waiting for a newly anticipating genre to take centrestage. Blackcore, anyone? Hardcore with black metal elements...Anyone?

*You know this is a joke, but truth is, more of this kinda new found genre will just start to grow in a few years time...*

How about Unblack Metal or also known as Christian Black Metal. Ever tried that one? I think it was either Mayhem or Venom, I can't really recall, apparently a magazine did an interview with one of them the band somehow "found God".

Haha. Come on dude, I can see that you're simply irritated with core related topics. Just stray away from it. Sometimes I wonder why you keep coming back to threads like these even though you despise it to death. Let's talk about something else. Dave Chappelle or whatever haha.

lol, honestly i feel this is thread is becoming like one where those metalhead vent their fustration/hatred on deathcore and metalcore fans.
haha.

these movements of music would die out one way or another, and another movement will take over.

this trend is not only seen in music but other forms of art as well.

what's the difference between metalcore and metal?
to find the difference, we have to define both of them.

so what is metalcore?
and what is metal?

it's ridiculous how some pple will defend their favourite genres to the death from rather trivial things.

There's a reason for a genre. And till this day, genres play an important role in classifying music easily for listeners. And to think it's easy, it's difficult at times especially, if you're new to the genre.
We all can have a say that genre is still music after all. Right. But if you know what you're listening and would like to recommend, you can't simply just pop out a genre randomly to a friend when it isn't right. "Silverstein is metal."
Genre plays an important role in music reviews and recommendations. You need to know it right. You don't just defend your genre for the sake of defending.
Tribalcast probably knows a genre more than i do... But if what i feel isn't right for the genre, i'll speak out.

You're missing the whole point.

If I gave you a Strawberry muffin, you eat the muffin and enjoy it. If somebody happens to like Strawberry with Vanilla icing, you don't walk up to him and go F*** YOU MOTHERF***ER, YOO R NOT TR00! At the end of the day, it's just a damn muffin.

I hear Norway is real nice this time of year.

Metalcore is a blend of metal and hardcore music. It's very direct just by reading it. But to go deeper into genre, you need to make a comparisons.
I have to admit that most Metalcore genres are abstracted elements from Melodic Death Metal.
A genre like metalcore these days can be well defined. With a growing list of new metalcore bands, listening to it makes you feel like it's all just the same. Breakdowns, Interludes, Breakdowns...

For every genre, there's always a band that stands out. And i won't deny saying that i do have a few metalcore listens. Between The Buried and Me stood out for me due to their combination of Progressive music with metalcore. The other bands just try too hard, ending up ripping each others music.

Hmm.. Lets just say some people are purists and you can't blame them? Cos listening to that genre for along time, they'll realise how their preferred choice of music changed drastically... It's not just a genre to them. It's part of their life.

Nice way of putting it..but if the strawberry muffin is metal and the vanilla icing is jazz/prog/folk/etc I'd eat it. But if its a blueberry muffin trying to pass off as a strawberry muffin then I wouldn't bite. Ok the end there is kinda wierd but lets say I only enjoy strawberry muffin, example la. Thats what some of us been trying to say here.

isnt it already starting to take shape? bands like abigail williams, and i saw some other bands on myspace. haha. ok yeah we should all chill. hardkaur no hardkaur same la. Just as how mainstream music frowns on metal, i think its just human to hold truly to what you love and put down others. Thats why there are so many forms of discrimination in society.

Haha, stryper's a crazy assed white-metal band. They dress like Manowar, but with yellow and black costumes. But their music's great, before they start to seem like they're preaching
