Deathcore and Metalcore. Metal?

ok i started this thread, n some people r saying they can't believe that someone started a thread regarding metal/deathcore/metalcore again.

so maybe i should just make my last statement n end this all.

the reason for this thread... i'm not trying to say that deathcore/metalcore sucks or that deathcore/metalcore musicians aren't talented.. cause honestly, they are.

i mean, u have to be talented to play such fast music, right? n i'm not denying that.

as distorted_soul mentioned, e only thing that irks me is when ppl say deathcore/metalcore is part of the metal family.

maybe they are part of the metal family, but even so, its in a very very very distant cousin whom you only see once every 5 years sort of way.

some ppl say genres don't matter. but personally, just my opinion (feel free to disagree), genres do matter.

for deathcore fans, how would u like it if ppl started saying that panic at the disco and fall out boy are deathcore? i'm sure u'd feel irritated as u'd feel that patd and fob are too sissy to be deathcore.

that's the way metal purists (or so i've noticed that's what the term is), feel about deathcore n metalcore.

just my 0.00001 cents worth though.

peace

I'm okay with any form of music as long as it doesn't disturb me.

And I believe there's no point debating if metalcore is metal. I mean, there's a reason why metalcore is named metalcore and why metal is named metal. Music is all about appreciation and the names or the genres are just a big, big, big hinder to openness and to put it, it's unfair to any forms of music[perhaps other than pop or techno] to say it sucks just because it's not to your taste.

I do personally like two cores bands. Through The Eyes Of The Dead is an interesting deathcore band and August Burns Red is a really competent technical mathcore band.

So, instead of debating, I think it's better if we continue to recommend and share all the good stuffs we'd heard. Of course I won't linger long in such threads but it's not harmful to be exposed to other forms of music.

c'mon, metalcore aint that bad. i started listening to alot of metalcore when i was new to music but even so, it made me explore the different sub-genres of metal leading me to alot of legendary bands like Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Skid Row, Slayer, Judas Priest and so on.

i cant really differentiate genres. what i listen is nice, means nice. dont care metalcore deathcore grindcore parkour earthcore hardcore softcore. blabla etc etc. but heh so far bands i like seems to be metal enough to be metal. somethingmetal not metalsomething.

deathcore is a trend that is going to die off soon. I dunno y but i just have this feeling somewhere somehow. I mean if u notice, all the bands sound the same now.

hehe grindcore isnt really one of those metalcore sorta bands, for me at least, and I have to admit, i sorta did listen to abit of JFAC, but its their latest album, partly coz my friend said EH GOT INDIAN GUY! so i was like hmm, lets check it out. but i only downloaded them, then didnt buy though. But yeah, metalcore can be a cousin, but like the sort you know who exists, but his existence isnt of much matter to you.

Grindcore is insane at times, and I can only take the milder ones. haha. sometimes when it sounds like the guy's gurgling under water, trying to come up for air, it sorta turns me off. And I have no problems switching genres. One moment I'm listening to Napalm Death, or Cannibal Corpse, and the next I can switch to Bjork, Radiohead or Coldplay.

and thanks tribalcast, hehe and cliffnestead i bet with your nick, you're also waiting for metallica
