Danelectro Tuna Melt tremolo

Anyone out there using this tremolo pedal from Danelectro?

i've read that it is better than the Boss TR2 (which has a vol drop problem), and of course, CHEAPER (an impt consideration since this is an effect that i think i will not use that often) :D

anyone have any comments on the Tuna Melt?

also, i suppose only Davis would have this right, is the price somewhere around 50 SGD for most danelectro pedals? cos i can get it online for about that price incl shipping.

Hmm, I don't know but it doesn't exactly strikes me at being durable. The hard/soft options is cool, but it's really not enough for me.

hmm... i'm not sure davis bring in those. but there's a shop in parklane, third level, once you go up the escalator, there's a shop at the right side which brings in danelectro pedal. their prices ranges from $60 to $100. prices are subject to change and the price given by me is just a rough guide. i'm not a shopkeeper there. :)

the uncle in there is very halpful, you can try the pedal for as long as you want and he won't get pester you.

update: i went looking around for this two weeks back, Davis no longer brings in Danelectro stuff cos he said they are not popular. Yamaha has a few models of their pedals like the Surf n Turf, Black Coffee, Daddy O, Fish n Chips... but they told me they never brought in the Tuna Melt before

:?

maybe i'll try that shop on level 3 of Parklane

I have a Tuna Melt. To my ears, it's very much a vintage oriented tremolo, like what you find on an old Fender amp (blackface era) and Vox AC30. You can do your usual tremolo things but maybe not enough for modern trmolo stuff. I'm not an expert but to my ears it's fine if you like vintage. I use it in the effects loop and find there's a noticeable boost i volume, good for me. I seldom use it but whenever I do, I use a subtle vibrato which improves my tone in the way reverb does. Not a fan of choppy tremolo.

Whilst purchasing it I did compare it with the Boss. Wasn't fully paying attention but thought the Boss was more versatile. Sound quality wise, I wasn't anal enough. Just different, not better. Anyway price was my criteria then.

Overall I like the tuna melt. But I'm not a tremolo person anyway.

I've been thinking of getting a tremelo pedal for sometime too... Still dunno my options...

I've only heard my friends TR2. I dun even see it in sweelee. so sad.

I'm building a vintage Pulsar clone soon. Not the new one with the 555 timer, the old one that uses transistors.

If the build goes well I may offer to make these for a price.

Will take a while though, I'm busy with a few commitments.

tremolo can be interesting i guess... but i think i may not be using it too often, hence i'm thinking of getting something cheap to play with - like the Tuna Melt

it can do the stuttering on/off effect right, Calibre?
