Hello guys
I am interested to custom build a guitar amps. Wondering can i simply use any kinds of speakers like those car/audio speakers or must i stick with guitar speakers?
Or any web sites that you guys can inspire me and those that are interested :D
Thanks in advance man :)

You should use guitar speakers for optimal sound.

I do think you're jumping the gun though. First, learn to solder well if you haven't, then get a book that teaches you how amps work, then understand how dangerous it is to work with high voltage equipment, and finally start with a safe and tested schematic to work on.

Recommended sites: Google, www.ceriatone.com, search www.soft.com.sg too.

Building an amp is no mean feat; it's already difficult to work with pedals sometimes. Good luck.

are you building combo, or amp head?
how many watts.

I am quite interested in custom building an amp?
Wonder anyone here has done so?
Was quite reluctant as it could be very technical, and quite a learning cruve. I may end up spending more time in building amp than playing music.

It will be great if all interested amp builders can share our knowledge, sourcing for hardwares together even design an amp.
Perhaps work on a project together. It will be easier.
Not sure anyone interested?

Just remember that you are dealing with lethatl voltages, even on the small 5 watt amps.

Would suggest you assemble a kit if you are interested, but remember to get someone who knows a little about electronics to check out your assembled kit before powering it up for the first time.

Hi Fi speakers can be bought from my friend's repair shop in Sim Lim tower. It's the radio and speaker repair guy at the top of the escalator on the third floor. Guy's name is Ah Khoon and if you tell him Mark told you abnout the shop, then he'll see you right.

Cheers,

Mark.

I know Mikemann assembled the ready kit before...
This job is not a child's play...
Lethal voltage present and may sent you
6 feet under in a tight sealed casing ...
If u know yr crabs than its fine....
If not u might be better off buying ready made amps...

Anyway Gdluck.

Before you embark on amp building, firstly you must only have the mentality that is just a hobby project. Prepare to spend time, effort and many cash on it.

If you have no experience in electronics at all, go and try some kits first. Like the cheapest 2 LED flasher circuit. These you can get for like under $5 for a ready to assemble kit. Next, you have to learn to fabricate everything from scratch, without kit. Just the parts, use hardwiring or vero board to create the circuit. One rewarding circuit is a 10LED chaser, using 1 logic IC & one timer.

Basic theory is essential, if you want to get anything right. By which it's at least a 2weeks (14days) course for the average IQ person.

Lastly, electronics also require talents, like only few individuals out of 1000 will seem to take to it like ducklings to water. Just like music or sports n everthing else.

take mike's advise...

best learn how to crawl before you run.

battery powered electronics got leeway when it comes to short circuits and accidents.

tube circuits due to its high voltages... better not.
