Craftsman vs Swing telecaster

Hi all! Recently I have been wanting to do some guitar mods. I was thinking of doing a telecaster mod. So my choice was to either get the craftsman telecaster from city music or the swing telecaster T1 from SV as an experiment. Just wana hear some thoughts from fellow softies. Which of tele should i get to do mods? Is it worth it to do it on tele copies instead of the real deal?

will it matter since you are gonna mod it anyway? maybe there's something specific you are after? do let us know...

modifications not determined by what brand it is, its entirely on what is lacking in the instrument in relation to what the owner wants improvement in.

even if its a fender tele, as long as the person playing the instrument aint satisfy with it, be it in the tonal range of the pickup, pots taper, pickup config(4 way switch tele mod) or cavity shielding etc, mods can be done.

Modifications are work to improve on whats lacking. If its just wanting to change for the sake of changing without understanding whats needed to improve on, that aint modification, thats just doing things blindly without knowing whats necessary in the first place.

In terms of money wise, there is a difference in price of $200. Hahaha! Anw, back to the topic. I am trying to achieve those blues/ rock sort of sound. I already have a lespaul and it does its job. I just wanna try the telecaster, like jimmy page, izzy stradlin (sometimes), keith richards. Really love the looks and the sound of the tele. Any idea of mods to achieve this?

i think the quality of both are roughly the same. at this price point, first go with what you think looks better, then do a quick QC check by playing it at the shop for a few minutes and inspecting the instrument closely.

one thing is noticed first was the saddles and the headsock of the craftsman resembles a fender tele's more closely than the swing! =D

Well said bro, I am kind of agree with you. Though I am not brand concious, I am curious about the price difference as both guitar specs are very similar. I kind of like the craftsman due to its 3saddles bridge, not forgetting its a local brand from CM. I dont wanna waste money on guitars which arent worth doing so much modding to it. So I just wana get some advices from you guys to find out which of the two is worth doing mods :)

at the price of both instrument, imho, any changes done to it, prolly aint going to increase the value or worthiness of the instrument itself in any resale market. Both are ultimately still affordable/cheap electric geetar which are playable and easily modded for the fun of it.

imho, go try both out, see which one resonate more with you and decide on getting it.

At the kinda price both are, it aint so much of which is worthy and which is not, it will be more on what you are comfortable on paying and which instrument feel better, in your hand, with you playing
