crack in headstock! need some advice!

hey people.

wanna ask you guys for help.

my edwards explorer. due to my carelessness. got knocked into.

it left a crack in the lacquer on the headstock. ouch. I think it may have spilt abit of the wood on the headstock.

the crack area is no where near the tuning pegs though.

Im jus afraid it would expand.

but it sounds perfectly alright. so Im worried for its future. ha. Dont know if i should bring it to a luthier. It would cost quite a sum i think.

the last pic. the crack adjacent to the tuning peg is a reflection. it isnt actually there. HELP please. ha thanks

ouch, that looks bad i think, prehaps a lutheir can help glue it back in or soemthing. my point of view is that it does not look good

but i was wondering. cos its just the headstock. so as long it doesnt affect the tuning peg it should be alright? correct me if im wrong.

and crack in the headstock wont affect tone right?

cos so far. it sounds perfectly alright.

so yeahhh.

cos i think bringing it to the luthier would cost a bomb to fix it up or something.

Just bring it to a luthier...

Let him diagnose ad tell you whether you need to repair or not.

Diagnostics = free.

Headstock breaking from amature assessment of damage = priceless.

dude, that doesn't look like a laquer crack...looks like a major wood crack to me..

can be done but refinishing would prob be involved.

If it's a cheapo guitar why not just get a new replacement neck?

Theres a chaper in the Stewart McDonald Guitar repair book on broken headstocks and the fine refinishing work by Michael Stevens ...(If I remember).

Check it out..

Dan Music also does good gluing of body joints, broken necks etc but their refinishing is not too good...
