the SATP90 is only available in gold not really my kind of color.. what pickups would you reccomend? Btw i saw on my friends hamer (duuno which model) the pickups are of 'duncan design'. how good are those?
It depends..............some ppl say nothing is as good as an original pickup from the respective brand while others say those '(manufacturer's name) designed' pickups are good enough. There are some good, bad and ok ones. 4 example the, DiMarzio-IBZ designed pickups on the Ibanez Prestige series are more than adequate but they cld be better clarity-wise. I haven't really come across any extremely bad or good ones but ultimately, its a matter of personal preference, like say between a full tube and tube sim amp.
In my opinion, I think for modulation effects like Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, etc..., would be better off digital because if you like analog modulations, you gotta get many pedals & your pedalboard must be huge to conatain all that. As for Dist/OD, i would prefer analog.
Goose goose, my bassist got one of the older models here, you want can come try out Loud, good clean headroom, clear and nice boom. 2x12 and a tweaker if i'm not wrong.
I would like to take this chance to get a multi-effect, would like to know how does vox tonelab SE fare in comparison to PODXT live and GT-8...
I am aiming on useability of the multi-effect on a live setting and it is important that it does not have produce lots of noise with it. Important factor is that the distortion must sound good and cleans crisp. Good is there is some noise suppression feature like a noise gate...
Pod produces better sounds from a wider range of sources like Mesa/Boogie and Ibanez. VOX Tonelab is good but its really monster.........hate 2 think of having 2 lug it around siah..........GT-8 produces sounds mainly frm their own pedals............so if u own many BOSS pedals 4get abt the GT-8. My preferene is Pod..........versatile but smaller and lighter than the VOX, higher quality effects and a more diverse range of stuff. Also it has USB interface so can sync with ur com and record direct. Also can download new effects patches from the internet, giving u even more choice.
hmm i liked the AC30. personally i would get the head version due to some maintainence issues with the combo huhrur. Sounded good to me and affordable.
i've since disregard colour as a primary criterion in making a guitar good in terms of tone & playability. colour simply doesn't affect playability/ tone, that should be the least of everyone's worry but i understand there is a good camp here who swears by a certain finish.
whatever pickups are in a guitar, we should evaluate its performance accordingly, not because it carries a certain derogatory label. there will be people here who would warn you about certain models but let's be objective- if it's good, it's good. if you have the funds, you can 'úpgrade' subsequently 8) he SATP90 is a great player, worth every cent (especially when it's still on offer).
