The diminished or half diminished chords very difficult to play leh....

I always sound like an accident. lol.

hehehe o ya can use word i see! :)

diminished chords have a tendency to sound cluttered if not used tastefully as a passing chord within the melody of the leading voice. In my arrangement I placed "F" as the top note which is a b3 in D halfdim.

try different inversions on the keyboard to find the most suitable voicing.

hi everyone! am new here. 1st post. after all these years, i finally register.

sometimes, the simplest is the better. no need to be so 'chim'. try this: append all the chords from james' version with a pedal tone. since this is diatonic, pedal tone of C should sounds ok. hence:

C
Ba ba black sheeep

F/C......................C
have you any wool

F/C.........C
yes sir yes sir

Dm/C..........C
three bag full

so on & so forth.

it would be more helpful if the substitution can come with some brief explanation :)

After Phil kindly post Tomo Fujita as his funk jazz favourite, I managed to see his playing on the same song discussed here. I will try to transcribe it (as much as I could) and post it here to share.
