check this out.. i sanded off the layer of paint from my samick trans black/green and i got this tigerish colour, should i just use wood stain to stain it to a brighter colour or change the finishing to trans white? originally wanted to paint it normal white..

haha, the colour so doesnt suit me.. it looks so old school heavy metal like van halen, poison type.. might want to try white trans.. btw to get white trans, if i just put a thin layer of white, will the trans color come out?
or do i have to use white fabric dye?

awww.. crap, i bought the white spray paint from diyhomefix already, maybe i use that paint for the rest of the body then for the top i use like fabric dye?
btw where can i get those low solid paint?
black cherry burst sounds nice, any pics of how it might look like?
might look weird cause im getting all black hardware.. hmm.. thinking about it, choosing colour is such a pain in the a**..

do a dragon green yellow burst!!

tt's call a quilt maple top. from e pic it seems like it's only a veneer top. it's a waste they painted solid colour over it.

haha woah, all the bursts..
haha and gr3y, they didnt paint solid black, it was black with trans green..
oh ya, the headstock has none of that weird stripe, so im not sure how im gonna match it..
hmm, btw black cherry burst is like the olp petrucci guitar?

sand the whole body dude.actually its a nice colour but sadly you dont like it.id be proud of that finish.

^ I agree. Thats an amazing finish and i dont think it looks all that hardcore.. just looks plain awesome, and EXTREMELY unique.

haha, doing it? as in making this kind wood colour urself or in the other meaning?
haha, i might wanna try playing this on stage when its half-finished, looks so weird..

anyway, wanted to try something like this, but since the wood colour inside is stripe, im not sure already, what do u think?

hey guys. short question here

if you have a ____ brand guitar then you decide to change the colour and send it to a luthier to do a paintjob

will the new paint affect the original tone of the guitar?

can someone with experience on this topic clarify this myth?

sorry arh wayne . hijack your thread abit. im sure you'd like to know too :)

hehe, why so difficult, gather your friend, gather geetars with same spec, different colours, play with same strength/dynamics and what ever factors there can be

play all open strings single note. Record into your computer, analyse the waveform, enlarge the waveform until so big that you can see whats going on from the initial attack to the eventual decay of the notes

after that, find another innocent fella, ask them to listen to the recorded notes, ask them what they think, without letting them knowing all the conditions set when doing the recording.

most importanly, must play only single notes without context of music, no melody involved, just random notes produced by geetar, without progression/direction.

afterwhich, hopefully we can deduce whether finishing affect tone, at what frequency, to what extend, will it cause signal degradation, frequency loss, frequency boost, more mojo, less mojo etc

if the above sound stupid, pardon me

^ a little over the top and unpractical, but for technical accuracy, that Would be an idea, heh :D

Anyway, I like the red and black finish. Very nice.
