Anyway, it's good to hear you are a happening superstar celeberity musician music engineer, I guess we need to learn more from Mr. Billy Joel68; so are you still in contact with Uptown Girl Christie Brinkley ???
Thank you for informing us of the possibilty of using a laptop running software instruments to perform live shows but it's always good to have backups and rebundancy in such unsecured position. The number of computers that I've seen crashed in my day job made me think twice before using it in a live gig. :smt102
He is probably referring to an optimised system which is designed mainly as a DAW. This means taking out all the unnecessary system loading crap and making it as clean as possible. I believe a system like this can hold up to many gigs if properly maintained. You can't really compare it to your typical work computer where its loaded with games, junk, spyware etc.
However, I agree, probably need backup too, like everything else.

of a 3-4 min song, what can you do?
1) ask the band to take 5 and you reboot
computer and load application again?
2) tell the audience to take 5 and you reboot
computer and load application again?
3) pretend nothing happens and continue to
play the song
4) others...

I agree with Ian; the reason I think it's S.T. becos someone in Citymusic told me S.T. ever gives a performance using a Giga
setup, that's why.
Anyway, for those who dun know who is Sydney Tan, he is the music director for 'Forbidden City' featuring Kit Chan. His music profile can trace back to producing Tracy Huang back in the 80s.

Sorry Dude !! Wrong Guess....I am not that "Paul" as you think...
and you guys are out of topic again...Using a Keycontroller with Barebone on Live Gigs...is really a big thing.. :!:
Also there is no possibility of the PC hanging in the middle if you dont load it with un necessary stuff like anti-virus, internet connection and other MS Office softwares...and shit... :roll:
Dedicate it to the application it is purposed for and enjoy... :lol:

the pc is not so vunerable o.o... just don install other shiat on it and it'll just work fine :lol: . but if it comes crashin down on u, GOOD DAY :twisted:
