change of pickups

hahaha sorry if it's a stupid question la, just want to make sure that i'm not the only one using the alnico II pro with a rosewood fretboard cause for all you know it may sound like shit.

Slash uses Gibson Les Pauls which have rosewood fretboards....

But getting Alnico Pro IIs are not gonna instantly give you his tone.

i know that it wont give me his tone. there are so many factors but at least i got the woodof the fretboard right. thanks for the info :D

has-sounds pickups look tempting for the price. the only that is stopping me from trying them is the lack of reviews and description, unlike sds and bareknucks where i can get detailed comparisons and suggestions based on my guitar etc etc hehhh

Come try my Viper pups. I have 2 now, neck and bridge.

Its pups that I feel suit my style best. Ceremics, biting, screaming harmonics and pure attitude. BUT. Great note clarity/seperation and dynamics. Something you don't get like in say... Evos or JB. And I mean seriously good dynamics. Bluepowder and SanXp have tried my guitar with the Viper and both where blown away by the way the Viper reacts to your playing/picking.

I will also be getting a custom Redline neck humbucker, Alnico 10k. And right now, I have a prototype DropZone7 for my RG7621, which will have it in by tomorrow methinks.

Phil has the Hellion. He wrote a review of it on HAS Sound website. Oh, and he has tried my Viper too.

I just got a set of HAS Karma single coils, Malcom will be testing them out. The Karmas are the vintage, bell like tones of old school real single coils.

Its really top notch stuff if you ask me.

Yeah I really like my Hellion, you should go and try Daniel's Vipers since he's so hospitable.
Or if you want, you can drop by my place too.

16k and alnico? Reminds me of a Tonezone. Could get a touch muddy or too dark, even on a bright guitar.

At the end of the day, you gotta take into consideration the guitar, and put more emphasis on it. Reason being, there's only so much a pup can do. It might be un-natural sounding, to put in a bright pup into a dark guitar, but it might just be what the guitar needs. So.. you really have to make sure you balance it up. Too extreme on the pup character, it starts sounds weird.

Anyway, for todays' context, with so many hi gain amps, and pedals around, I don't think there is a need to go for high output pups. Reason being, high output, usually lacks in the cleans dept. Also you really take away the dynamics/responsiveness and add compression from the root of your tone, your guitar. When you do so, then you can't ADD dynamics you know? Its gone already.
I think a wise and practical way is medium/low output pups which have good dynamics/little compression, then use pedals to boost like crazy.

Of course, all the above in the view of a player who wants versatility and dynamices.

Bare Knuckles seems to be the new hype in name dropping for pickups.... any of you guys actually tried them?

No no... Matt, if you wish to go BK, by all means do so. However, you gotta be sure what you want then compare it to what really matters. E.g. I want a pup that has great low end, whcih might make it muddy up. So why not use bigger speakers/cabs to give more oomph instead of compromising on clarity.

Be assured, ciel21 isn't "looking down" on you.

what do you guys think of alnico II pro in the the neck and a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge. reccomended? or should i just take a duncan distortion.

daryl: u can trial & error. go with ur former combi. if u dun like it, chg to the duncan distortion.

but i beckon u to try duncan custom custom bridge.
