Can One Have Too Many Drive/Dist Pedals?

I was wondering about this...

Should one have one pedal of each type of effect or is there no limit?

Cuz i plan on getting more than one drive pedal.... It will only be better right? Like i will be able to get a wider range of sounds from my guitar then.

Confused.

theres no limit if the person involve feel theres no limit
theres a limit when the person involve feel theres a limit

limit is dependent on individual usage and no general forum style agreement

without taking into conderation of

1) effect of stacking various drive/distortion pedal and whether does it sounds good thru stacking aka the combination of the effec you have, does it work well together poking each other in either order, before or after

2) When after you stack, but like to use some of those one pedal at a time and some together at the same time, how easy can you activate/deactivate those pedals at any one instance

3) additional noise/hiss when you combined gain pedal etc

me? Less is more, but fooking MORE IS STILL MORE! The more the merrier, bring it on! Imho and my own opinion only. Not any others

why need pedals? tone.
how to obtain tone? tweak eq/guitar/pickups/amp/amp settings.
last should be pedals.
tweaking should come first.

after guitar/amp/ and lotsa eqing, pedals should come last.

to me, pedals are when ur in a gig. you need the sound for the chorus/bridge/pre chorus then you kick it in. its for the kick in, more than tone.

other factors involving acquiring of pedals: level of skill (thats why i only use 2) and money of course XD

i get one of each type.. an od, a fuzz, and a distortion.. although my "distortion" has fuzzy character in it cause its a metal muff..
there's never too many, even if you have to tap dance while gigging..
you can have various pedals for various tones and genres you're playing..
but of course, skill comes first, then equipment.. you wouldnt wanna spend on lovepedal or whatever when you're still playing smoke on water intro..
heh..

if you consider the "thangs" that goes inside love pedals, then seriously, love pedal is not worth it, to even play smoke on the water intro...Yes, NOT worth it, with capital N...

i think im just gonna spam me board with drive pedals...

eyeing MJM blues, Fulltone FD2, TS808(modded to keeley specs)

Its all about variety, what you need and inspiration's sake.

If someone had 4 drive pedals and all of them are tubescreamers... TS808, TS9, TS9DX, Eternity... I'd be like... Uh... where's the variety?

If someone had... 8 drive pedals and... they played in church... then I'd asked, dude, do you really need those?

But of course, if the player does use them all... and he is inspired to play on... then I say, AWESOME.

Anyway, its all my opinion. It doesn't really matter if you're bedroom, or you're professional, or you're a kid.... if you can procure whatever pedals, and you're able to live with it, and live with how others think about it... then sure go ahead.

Go ahead.

Someone once said to me on this forum... something to the extent of "there's only so much to drive pedals"... something like that. Basically telling me I'm wasting my time "exploring" drive pedals... its a "limited" world.

That was like... 3 years back? Now, from experience (tada! now no one can diss me!), I can say that... drive has many many many colours... its insane. Incredible variety in terms of sound and feel.

The danger isn't in running out of variety... its getting satisficed... or plain bored.

P.S. Said dude isn't hanging around SOFT no more apparently... I hope he is contributing to music in other ways...

yeah.. the component in love pedals make it not worth it.. but still people do buy it, right?
ok lah stranger12, not smoke on water.. all the small things by blink 182 then.. lol
