Cable direction hype or real?

Currently I'm using some generic cables, gonna upgrade them real soon when I have the time.

One question has always been bugging me, which end of the cable should go to guitar, and which to amp.

And for pedals

Output -> input

There's no indication whatsoever on the cables, but one cable has got small arrows that "possibly" indicate the flow.

Apparently Evidence cables also has such indication. A red marked plug indicates destination.

I am thinking of getting cables from mrmisse, maybe he can shed some light onto this?

cables on their own should not have a particular direction, as they aren't biased

BUT different heads, like the basic straight head or the angled heads are usually preferences, like usually a straight head would fit snugly into a strat jack and an angled head into a les paul type jack

Some electronics chaps from theGearPage did some tests.. electrical tests and stuff.

Verdic?

Yes, there's a difference.

Its FACT.

Now, that said, if your ears can make out the (minute) difference, then please, do what you must. No one's going to mock you - no one should, its YOUR tone YOUR ears after all.

I first noticed this because of the 1 cable that had arrows on them.

They were a tad more expensive and better quality i'd think than the others I have.

one side got more mojo than the other. u dont have to hear, u can kinda FEEL the difference. for me i'll feel something's not right. not enough mojo. or mojo flowing the wrong way

personally i cant tell so i dont really bother abt direction. i did try it and errm cant hear it hurhrurhu

to me its all about copper, polymer coating, chrome/nickel/gold plated brass and capacitance/feet or meter.

If any of you wanna believe hype like this, high fidelity audio is calling you!

Next thing you know, you'd wanna put very nicely polished coloured stones that cost something like a Bogner Uberschall on certain parts of your amplifiers to give you and open and more engaging soundstage.

i have upgraded my cables and for a few others here and the improvement is pretty apparent ...the verdict being its best soldered :D

Stones for Tone? I wanna buy! Brand it sTones and it'll sell like hotcakes.

I've got a bassist friend who's using some $400< cable and I tried it out on a guitar against the relatively el cheapo planetwaves and there was a discernable difference. But not the kind of difference I'd pay $400 for. And guess what, he's one of those audiophile hi-fi heads...

MR G, I'm curious. What cable did you use for DIY?
