Buying petrol across causeway (come 30th May)...

true, heard from a fren of mine, telling singapore buying oil from brunei, like 50cent per litre i think, or 15cent

s'pore is already making $$$ from refining + re-exporting oil...

somehow we as patronizers do not experience recession in the pricing.if there is a rise there is a fall but here rising in both.

like many have mentioned i dont think the rule will last that long.

yup. cos singapore got no oil. only refineries

there is only one person who can stop all the madness

Well, the truth is... The Arabs are the ones making lots
of money. Not only because they call the shots in prices.

Our refineries are only doing "fine" now
due to the rising cost of crude.

In fact, they are killing us all very
soon because they are currently investing in plants that
produces petrochemicals at 1/3 the price of what we can do.

re:shinobi
Well, if singapore has oil, the oil will belong to sg
not to the priv companies. just because they drill
it and package it nicely in pumps doesnt mean they
own it.

If we have oil, they will be absolutely no doubt it'll
be benificial to us all, whether directly or indirectly.
But at this stage it still sounds kinda far-fetched
that we could possibly have any oil. I could only
wish we do, then we can boycott malaysians from
driving over to woodlands/tuas to pump their protons.

oh well, u know the thing went economy goes bad, oil prices goes up everything price goes up. when back to good, the price dont come back down.

like taxi charge. they say rising cost of petrol cause the increase in fare. do u think when petrol price goes down, fares goes back down?

just a few days ago, it was reported in the state times that some airline chief predicted the demise of budget airlines due to ever increasing oil prices.
couldnt help wondering what the future holds for the newly completed t3

if it goes bad they can make it a museum for airplanes and the history of SIA and its stewardesses, then have a few starbucks joints all around with free internet access

i agree with FGL...since Singapore wins the Pedra branca, then they start to have their rights..'

BTW issit an offence to post here,?im afraid the malaysians heard us..

think abt this, why Malaysia wanna ban something that they can gain profit?

Are they? The oil prices in Malaysia are heavily subsidies to with the original intention to accomodate the low-income citizens in Malaysia. Which means they are possibly selling oil at a price lower than cost. It is a privilege meant for their people, which Singapore has been taking advantage of for a while.

It was ok at first cos the price of such commodities are under control. But right now, we are seeing a steep inflation on such commodities on a world wide scale, and Malaysia is NOT immune to that. They are absorbing quite a sum already with the subsidy; they just can't afford to lose more monetary reserves just to accomodate their visitors who are taking advantage of that privilege.

Less Singaporeans going over to Johore because of this? Great. We can probably cut the waiting time to go past the customs. It's bad enough with Mas Selamat still running free.

Anyway, it's their oil. They do what they want with it.

Already we are buying their water, processing it, and selling it back to them at a higher price...

dun worry...i'm a kl boy...n i think it's really stupid to totally ban...
they could at least let sg cars to refuel at unsubsidized rate...that way it would still b a win-win situtation...coz unsub rate would still b cheaper than sg fuel...

^^ agreed to our KL frd.

wats the point of totally banning foreign vehicles to pump petrol.
might as well sell at unsubsidized rate. they can still earn. its not as if sporeans are pumping all the petrol in a kiosk a day.

WHATEVER IT IS FELLOW SOFTIES,
JUST A WORD OF ADVICE..DRIVE SAFELY AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS WHEN GOING INTO JB
