Bringing Your Own Instruments

you got to pay a little sum if you want to use their instruments, which is totally fine by me for their yummy thunderbird and les paul

Our female vox in Retro Groove, Fiona, brings her own SM 57 for rehersals & gigs.

We reherse at Dan studios and being "members" there, I never use studio guitars, I just pick a guitar from his 2nd hand for sale showcase.

membership has its benefits ...

Yes scape provide Gibsons now. A real gibson really can't be that bad, if people are complaining that Gibsons sucks because this that this, I'll usually look at it the other way and think that they suck cause they can't adapt to play a Gibson.

Although the quality of gibson has been relatively falling as compared to Gibsons of the past, take note relative here doesn't mean its dropping like bird shit from 10,000km above sea level... I don't play les pauls much and i'm not too good at an lp's scale but i can still tell if a guitar's good by hearing it when pros play 'em.

Jeremy: Hey what do you use the laptop for? recording or sampling?

Jeremy: Hey what do you use the laptop for? recording or sampling?

for reading tabs, use the notebook for figuring chords out, using it as a veri big mp3 player when band members have not heard a particular song, surfing internet at a nearby macdonalds while waiting for other band members

i got a basic digital recording/jamming setup at home, but i still force mi band to go jam outside at a studio coz i tink that its better to get a feel of a real amp, real drumset, real loud stuff(noe wad i mean?)

the BFG is a decent guitar but it could be better but its a BFG so why would they make it better

lol. ah i think i dont make sense.

UNmuscular ppl like me have trouble lugging 5 pedals and my pedalcase around

my lead guitarist (rugby player) carries a PT pro fully loaded with pedals around and he doesnt complain as much hahahaha

les pauls are a love/hate thing. mainly cuz the neck is not really shred friendly past the 16/17th fret, its a finished neck, has only 22 frets.

but the tone of a les paul is heavenly.

Jamming room equipment has rusty guitar strings and yeah, the more you practice on a certain instrument, the more you are ONE with it.

*starts floating on a lotus plant*

I would really like to use my own instrument for jamming but sometimes lugging around my heavy and unwieldy bass is too much of an inconvenience, especially if I have school on that day.

do not compromise

my bandmates in school just bring their own instruments, cus studios provide shit guitars and basses.

haha was just reading the thread and many of you think the studio's equipment isn't that great. the guits and amps and all. had personal experiences and for me i agree too...

but i was just wondering, if you think so, why do you guys still go there? haha might as well drag your amps and guitar to someone's house who has drums and jam there. free and can jam for a damn long time too :D

just my thoughts... :D

precisely... just have to invest in soundproofing... but with current houses getting smaller and smaller...

for jamming... drummers tend to be the poor chaps that has to suffer with heavy equiptments....

drums has so many components to it.... mainly bring for jam and cymbals, stands and snare... sometimes drummers have to summon another drummer help just carrying this stuff around.... also double pedals...

i always lug my snare to jamming/gigs and that is one real killer already... v.bad for my posture.... gaah!!

and scape studios is good... for the drums, it's extremely good... but the cymbals, its filled with cracks... suggest bringing ur own cymbals if jamming there.. also a double pedal... the pedal is single...

the rest are ok...

proper soundproofing will set you back a few grand. so will performance amps and a full drumset, if the drummer doesnt have one. jamming at home to the same effect is not viable

Haha, granted that most studios are not ideal, but they're still way better than what we can create with our own pocket money. New studios tend to have equipments in better conditions.

We should all be considerate and take care of studio equipments because those are not ours and will be used by many different people. I usually bring my own instruments due to personal preference (eg, used to my pacifica, used to my efx presets and vocal tone from personal mic). I don't bring amps because firstly, i don't have a good amp, and secondly i don't use amp but straight from my x3live into pa anyway! >)
