Boutique Gear: When did you fall for them?

Decided to order my strobostomp from analogman instead. Now it's probably enroute. 8)

SanXP has already ordered one from analogman.

Why didn't you buy from our local distributor?

Yeah. I mean, its local, you can just drop down and test out a unit, and brought it home. :P

But analogman, tried and proven, honest man.

Not much difference. I don't think there are any close competitor for a TB tuner. The other way was to get a TU-2 (which is seldom in stock) and run it through a looper or something which will probably cost about the same region.

Or I could mod a Korg DT10 for true bypass.

The DT10 still not as good as the strobostomp in terms of tuning capablility but I always found i to be excellent. With a true bypass mod can you call it boutique now? :D

Lifehouse, i was refering to the convience of ordering from a local store. ;) I mean, cash & carry. :P

Btw, 20 mins with the Blackstone, I'm drooling.

Actually I tried looking for the DT10 and TU2. Both were not in stock.

As for the distributor for Peterson here, I didnt know they carried any products. Just not too familiar with them. It's like the Traynor distributor here.

BlackStone Overdrive Mini Review.

This thing has to be one of the most versatile and very transparent OD pedals around. I only had the past 3 hours with it.... its amazing what you can tweak.
I dunno what to compare this pedal to in order to give a better idea but hell.

If you want
Dynamics (in a most natural way, not the old, pick harder get brighter style)
Clarity of Tone (the notes sparkle in a beautiful way, very obvious)
Versatility (About-to-break-up-hair to light rock crunch)
Transparency (okay, no pedal is 100% transparent, but this baby lets your guitar's tone speak so much better)

I think this is a great pedal to start with... its just sweet and... damn. I do not regret letting go the TS9DX. Its living up to the hype on TGP so far. The only excuse you would ever, EVER have to not liking this pedal, is that well, its not your cup of tea. The cost is a minor issue IMO. You want good stuff, do your homework. ;)

Ark, heh... i hope it rocks your socks. Its still rocking my socks off!

DEMO MP3
Just playing with the Blackstone. It was like only after 30mins of tweaking , that I recorded this, so yeah, its not a final tone but it sounds great. Orange channel after the clean intro, then after the break, the more hi gain Red channel is used. All picking dynamics only, until the last part where I rolled the volume down a little. Not running guitar straight to Blackstone like I should, Bad Horsie 2's buffer is in the way.

I wouldn't use the TU2... too inaccurate... the DT10 just needs that TB switching and it will be much better.

But why think abt them when you got a strobostomp on the way? :P

Btw, I read up that being in tune = more sustain as there is less frequency cancellation. I hope you can find out the answer soon!

Malcolm had a strobo variant. The handheld version and I felt that there was quite a great difference when he tune it with the strobo.

Oooo... I tink the Morley Bad Horsie 2 will have to go. Its buffer is not only sucking tone, but its messing up the Blackstone's reactive mode. Even in buffered mode, the BH2's buffer gives this brittleness/coldness to the tone. Yuck.

RMC 2 wah anyone?
