Okay basically i decided that I would be getting A Crowther Audio hotcake as my overdrive pedal.Im not really a fan of heavy metallic distortion or screaming biting growls.More of a vintage tube sound, bluesy and crisp.

But I want versatility in my tone, being able to do Radiohead/Muse Covers. Can the hotcake get enough overdrive to wander into distort territory or should I get something that holds its own?

On its own or with your other pedals?

The Hotcake is transparent kind of pedal meant to be pushing amps while keeping the tonal characteristics the same.

Good or not really depends on how you utilise it

i know its good, im getting it. just wondering If it can hold its own when I play fuzzy distortion songs.

Im also probably gona stack it with a R.C Booster.

no its not a fuzzy distortion. and no alone it will not venture into muse territory.

you need a fuzz. and yes its crisp and articulate and no i dun like it for anything else cept rythm even thn i dun really like it but hey thats me.

based on ur post, i take it you haven heard it first hand?

I was thinking maybe a skreddy mayo or screwdriver? or are both not able to reach such fuzzy stages as well? havent tried the crowther firsthand, but watched it being used. and listened to it in different settings.

mayo and screwdriver not able to reach fuzz stages well? a bit of an oxymoron i see haha

mayo is a fantastic fuzz, but in regards to ur blues crispiness i dont noe if it will handel it well... screwdriver definitely a good choice, getting one meself but no sellers yet

the hotcake cant do fuzz, but there's a little fuzz at highest gain, which is still not high gain btw. hehe

consider the t-rex mudhoney. i tried it at sagaran's place, i must say it's very neat and versatile pedal. it can do overdrive, and fuzz too. and some light distortion. but price is a bit high though.

I tried this before... 2 words.

Big Muff

A very expensive big muff.

okay pardon my inadequacy in boutiques. Im just decided that perhaps I'll go for the skreddy mayo, seems quite versatile to me.

Il leave the crisp clear OD work to the crowther hotcake and use the mayo on its own for heavier distort work.

i love the hotcake's dynamics. nothing can beat that! and the way it cleans up! shioks! and very clear and articulate too.
