hmm im considering a boss overdrive pedal, from my skimming the surface research, the os-2 is closest i can get to acquire the sound of franz ferdinand or the strokes etc. any recommendations? maybe if anyone has owned it perhaps u may wanna share how it sounds..? or if you wanna recommend me another boss pedal (ds-1, ds-2 etc?)

...or turbo Tubescreamer 8)

if you are looking for a bit more girth in your drive, i'm sure that everyone here would agree that the Blues Driver is a worthy investment. the name is a little deceiving though- it's not exclusively for blues.

franz ferdinan... i'm thinking more BD-2... gritty and dynamic. The TS might just compress you into erm... well... yeah.

Hmm.

First off, if you intend to get an OS-2 (because I own one and I shud know what this pedal does), here's the following things you need to know:

1. it sucks the bass out of your tone. EQ pedal required to augment sound.
2. it's a v good booster pedal because at low gains it isn't too fuzzy, just pretty gritty.
3. I used it as my main OD pedal (with EQ pedal to add bass depth) until I got my Daddy O overdrive. lack of bass led me to finding other OD pedal as main OD source.

if you're looking for the FF sound, I would be curious as to what your current rig is like. Maybe you could share with us what you have at the moment and if the OS-2 is the best way forward.

The OS2 is a highly underrated pedal in my experience. There's lots of in between shades of drive flavours to be discovered with the od/dist blend knob. The modded OS2 is one of 3 of my favourite besides the SM9 and BD2.

Drop me a mesg for a test drive. :D

You can mod it??? OMG I wanna mod it!!!

Are you kidding me?! Hehe. The thing is I brought the OS2 to the TAGS show yesterday just in case anyone were to ask "...and what is that?" but as usual omce they hear that it's a OS2 their eyes and index fingers will wander off to either Mr Greeny or Mr Orange. Mr Yellow seems to have won several new friends though. Yay! :)

It's best to just swing by with a stock OS2 so you can test run both stock and modded to experience and hopefully (taking amps out of the equation) will find something suitable for yourself in your tone quest. Just email me for an appointment ya.

haha... OT a little, is the tubeslammer by cmatmods gd?

Not sure about that but perhaps u'd like to check out our home based OM Labs "Samsara" (I think :p ) it's fab sounding! Check with Edder about it ya. Oh btw I just lurve those cream coloured chicken head knobs!

Ed, it's Samasara, Samasama or Saharara arh?
:D

Hmm.

haha sorry edder, I meant that the OS-2 could be modded, I never doubted mr randolf's skills  his reputation I respect utterly.

Yeah, randolf, I do have the stock OS-2... wonder what I could possibly do to it. Maybe have a bass freq control?

Samsara is a good name for a Random chaos, Noise Generator, Merzbow kinda noise instrument. Maybe I should use it as my "other" line of pedals that makes noise.

Samsara = Samsara is derived from "to flow together," to go or pass through states, to wander. Mostly a great revolving door between life and death and a new life reincarnated cycle of life. Also known as a game in ancient India.

My overdrive is Sahasrara

Sahasrara = Sahasrara chakra symbolizes detachment from illusion; an essential element in obtaining supramental consciousness of the truth that one is all and all is one.

Oh wow, Ed thanks for the confidence and referal. Crawldaddy the mod brings back the missing lows and let you have better control of the focused mids with the onboard dist/od blend knob and let the tone knob shape the amount of highs needed. The rest is really at the amp side of things.

Oh another thing, to get wider dynamics from the guitar interacting with the amp try medium or low output pups and let your drive pedals work with the amp to zone in on the different degrees of distortion you need.

There you go Moo! Now that you are arriving closer to the tone go make some heavenly sounds with it ya! That's where I believe tone resides eventually... within the song.

Thats the MAGIC lah.

You go to Randolf's place, want to mod a pedal, spend 30 minutes on it, and the rest of the hours talking about how to tweak stuff.

Magic.

What about Christy Chung?
