hey guys
i just heard from my friend that
the pedal made in japan is better then the taiwan ones
but i search on the net it says that japan is just older verison
So is there really a different in the sound of boss pedal made in japan
and Taiwan?
or only some pedal has the different?

Thanks

generally the MIJ ones are much better than their MIT counterparts, in different fields of course. still the difference in price is rather proportionate i'd say.

there is a significant difference between:

various versions of DS-1 ( milder, sweeter? )
MIJ and MIT DS-2 ( more distortion )
MIJ and MIT DD-3 ( more clarity )

those are just some of the pedals that I felt were very different. MIJ being the nicer sounding one of course.

there are some MIJ pedals that are not released when the factory shifted to Taiwan

CS-2
DD-2
DM-2
PH-1r
PN-2

there are some Taiwan pedals that are worth mentioning too.

HR-2
MT-2
PQ-4
RV-3
SD-2

well, most of the good pedals are discontinued and sought after by collectors. good luck hunting.

MIJ and MIT DD-3 ( more clarity )

I gotta disagree (coz I can1!!!11!1!!!!)

I think the MIT DD3s have more clarity - brighter and more hi-fi. Which is what guitarists tend to not prefer. We like it warm, soft, fluffy.

The MIJ DD-3/DD-2 are very interesting pedals amongst the DD line IMO. They sound like... Digital Delays lor. But the repeats, while clearly digital, sound just slightly warmer than the original tone. Just sounds much more musical & use-able.

Then again - the old DOD digital delays (cost abt 80 bucks 2nd hand?) with the 12-bit processors sound very similar to the MIJ DD-3. *hint hint*

Hehe.. Did mine suddenly remind you of the similarity? The old DOD delays are really musical.. If you have one for sale, PM me!!! It was a mistake selling my second one..

if you use the DS-1 as a drive type booster, don't bother getting too picky over the Japn/ Taiwan models- the tonal differences aren't as marked as them being used as stand-alone units.

its really subjective to each pedal. only the older pedals were made in japan ala the dm2 ce2 and etc. those are worth a mention as they;re great. some of those pedals were put out of production before boss shifted production to taiwan.

Differences? sure there are. perfect example, boss ds1. MIJ version is better IMO. it has more clarity. retains the string difference better. less clashing. less trebly.

hmm, I felt that the repeats from the MIT DD-3 sounded darker as compared to the original tone whereas the MIJ DD-3 sounds like an exact photocopy of the note. however, it is hard to compare also la, there are like 4 versions of the DD-3 if i am not mistaken.

the older boss delays sounded really excellent, think digital clarity but with warm repeats. I'm currently using the dd7 with the dm2 analog emulation mode and after hearing and playing an actual dm2 i must say the dd7 really nails the sound but with less noise. The repeats get darker and darker which is sounds very musical.

This is interesting! Good info....

I do know I gave my MIJ DD3 away... coz of the EHX DMM lar... hehehehe.
