Band Competition Of The Year 2008

sorry

oh all apologies,pardon my mistake..
but i still stand by my principles.. its bout ethics man..wanna do something,do it the right way..

i have to agree with lizardking

it is a band competition not a gig
if u wan bands to sell tix make those kinda gig
and i'm guessing that ur making this competition
with the prize money just to attract bands and make bands
sell the tickets,

if ur a band and u join this competition
and u see 40%/20% ticket sales in the competition
u'll have the mindset of
*i need to sell more ticket so that i wont lose out to the other bands*
when this happen, the organisers will be happy,
the hardwork of selling the tickets will be done by the bands

this is a competition
bands play to win
and the organiser work hard on how to attract the people to come
not just by asking band to sell tickets
as tickets is the main thing in the comp
that is totally wrong

organiser make competition
to set a platform for young aspiration musician
to break even at the end of the day
and to think that you are looking for the profits
and afraid to make some losses
then thats is crap
that is not setting a platform
that is making hell for the bands

having to concentrate on to play
their tightness, choosing the right song, gain confident,
mentally have to be prepared,
and to add on to all that
selling tickets
bands will just be STRESS
and when bands are STRESS
can they concentrate on their music?
i'll say no
especially to bands who cannot sell tickets
they will be in low confidents
and will not have a great set..

organiser who organise gigs and set a rule to sell ticket
is already irritates some of the musicians here in singapore
what more for a competition
that will just boils everyone up

people will just remember this competition
as a ticket sales competition

thats all i got to say for now

Maybe you should try seeking sponsors. It's tough though.

gig_organiser probably needs the money from the sale of tickets to give away prizes. He could have do this with a gig instead and do away with the prizes. That would be more profitable. So I think the intention is still good here. Try doing some calculation. The prize, rental, time and effort put into this probably requires more than 30 bands participation in order to break even. I'm just making an assumption here though.

Caijun from wat i've heard it gonna be 100++ bands in total
the organisers aim for 100++ bands
thats y u hae 16 auditions rounds
1 auditions 10 bands
16 auditions 160 bands
30 tickets 1 band
300 tickets 10 bands
$12 1 ticket
$120 10 tickets
$2 1 ticket commision for the band
$10 10 ticket commision for the band
(this is just a rough sketch of my views
not by the organiser but roughly this is wat i figure out)

so still?

if u gonna have 100++
dun have to worry about tickets
do it and u'll be just absorbing from the local music
if thats happens
not a good sight to start with

hahahaha this is dam funny la. i acutally laughed when i saw "ticket sales" as one of the judging criteria. LOL. wa lao dam stupid la whoever organised such a competition. just make it a gig la and everyone will shutup. lol.

well if you guys don't like the idea then boycott the gig or competition or scam . whatever you call it . by the way is this the melissa from chai chee secondary . I hope its not that demon .

hmm personally , if that band is good then tickets wont be an issue i guess?

it will be an issue
wat if the good bands arent able to sell the tickets
and lose on to the tickets percentage
that will be wrong right

well why would a competition be based on tickets?
that is wrong lah

like for e.g.
u got bands who can play like iron maiden, helloween, etc etc
but they couldn't sell the tickets
an hence lose the competition because of
not selling tickets

so isit still a music competition?

agreed that judging criteria should not have anything to do with ticket sales but my point is that if the band is good , they'll be able to sell the tickets . I do however agree that competitions should not force bands to sell tickets

wow do we rally need 2 sell ticket?

wow do we rally need 2 sell ticket? so wat if the band make a good performance and nt the ticket selling? hmmm! -__-

yeah thats wat im trying to convey to u guys..
wat IF the band is good, plays really well, but wen i comes to tix they cant sell..
So wat happen to this type of bands..
cheers

thats what many bands have been appealing against and trying to stop the trend, but its still a pity other bands out there are still willing to sell the huge amount of tickets just to get a gig slot

Just my point of view..
But if thats the case will there still be ppl watching when the bands are playin??Good bands have more fans right?so there is an advantage for dem...but wad if new bands perform in a competition without any supporters?Bands normaly complains wen there are no crowd ..Why? Cuz there are some bands that don't even bother to bring in crowd wen they perform...this is why recent gigs have a min amt of tickets for a band to sell.."But if everione do a part and bring in as many friends..i believe all these min tickets will be gone".. besides that, Selling tickets could also make new bands to perform better..as their friends will be there to watch dem...this could make dem practice more..By doin all these will there still be boring gigs where ppl use to complain??

well this is not a gig, so there no need to sell tickets
have u seen sbotb ask bands to sell tickets?

and for gigs if organiser attention is to have crowd for the bands
thats y they ask them to sell tickets
then y make a rule that for any unsold tickets must be payed back
by the band
isn't that killing the bands?
if the bands cant bring crowd and cant sell tickets
so be it let them perform in an empty crowd
but i strongly disgree of paying to the organiser for he unsolf tickets
that is strongly organiser do not want to suffer a lost.

seling tickets with competition, thats is tottaly crap
please decide
u want to make a gig or a competition
coz gig and competition is 2 diff thing
and as long as the ticket is involve here

there will b alot of people disagreeing with it

aiya...we can't do anything also, its the organiser choice mah....
but i would like to know how many bands have already sign up for it??
u guys are seriously damn COOL ar...
