I believe we all know of people who sms/msg/email, basically, when they type, they type in a very dry (tactless) way, which often gets misinterpreted as offensive. Stillwater comes to mind.

Being dry or tactless is a world of difference from using obscenities.

Well, along hte lines of what Ken and 3barsanote said.... some things were painfully obvious. True, using vuglarities is a definate no-no, but lets look at it both ways.

Anyway, its a sweet axe for anyone who is still willing to fork out the cash. Very nice.

I've had bad experiences here as well...

people who ask all sorts of silly questions and in the end don't even have the courtesy to reply me after that. I posted an ad about selling some books a while ago, some guy sms'ed me and said he wanted to take the whole lot, adjusted his order a few days later, and never got back to me.

The other time I wanted to sell my GT5, there was one guy, appeared really interested via our conversations both online and telephone wise. Came over to my place and tried out the unit, in the end told me he just wanted to hear what it sounds like.

I wanted to sell a stand, some guy msged me, told me he wanted it. I went there waited for him didn't show up....up till now he has not even got back to me.

I think that these are just all the things you have to take into consideration when selling something online. But under no circumstances should you use vulgarities, that's just way uncalled for. Asking questions about a guitar or whatever are part and parcel of the buying process. If you're genuinely interested in selling the guitar you'll want to answer everything and anything to the best of your ability. That IMHO is a key responsibility of someone assuming the role of a seller.

Anyways I haven't let any of these bad experiences spoil me faith in the soft classifieds. One bad apple ain't gonna spoil my whole basket.

Firstly, for what has traspired, I feel that this is a personal issue. Secondly, I am in no way involved in this deal whatsoever, except letting my friend, my place as a convenience to deal.

Being a seasoned online trader myself, I know when not to pursue and when to take actions to push a deal thru. My personal advise, if you are really interested in any item, ask to call direct and talk personally to the seller. Talking, you can accomplish in 30secs what you will take 10 mins of about 20 back and forth sms.

SMS will take a lot of time for the seller, esp if he is a regular trader, and it's very often that people "ask for fun". Personally, I always get the intrested buyer to call me to talk, what we call personal touch and chances of actual dealing is much higher. I also get pissed off all the time by 'time wasters', 'luck tryers' and out right 'con attempts'. Being played out quite a few time by the sellers myself, where I personally go to the sellers flat lift lobby, after which com silence. I take measures myself to minimise such occurences, but always tell myself not to be affected by these jokers.

VineOfLife, you should have called him directly instead. Difference people got different patience level.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I always find it funny that behind the computer screen of anomaly, people always like to take potshots at others at every opportunity they get..... hahaha...

;) Thats what the internet is for.

Myself, just got dissapointed by a seller called Six who promised to meet up with the item but instead sold it off to another person even after I confirmed with him. He apparently has been posting stuff for sale here, so all buyers beware!

Sofyan, have you ever fallen in love with a gear so much and you finally get it at a price you can afford, you can't sleep cos you're thinking of all the lovely sounds you'll get out of it, all the beautiful music you'll have with it, and on that day, you finally shower and dress up all nice and have the heartless guy say "Oh sorry, I sold it to another person"...............

Hi mikemann, in this scenario, it appears to me changbeer has a very low threshold when it comes to being patient. I did not on any occasion make things difficult for him. On the other hand, which seller would tell a potential buyer "No pic u wan go mikeman studio c". It was merely an enquiry yet also the 1st one, and it was himself who wrote to sms on both adverts.

I have dealt with empben88, another seller on soft, and he provides good service and even takes the initiative to let potential buyers like me know if he has made any changes to the guitar, even minor ones.

Nevertheless, the purpose of this post wasn't to have softies shoot changbeer down, but rather

1.if this was a con-job in the first place if you read the end of my first post, and
2.the attitude of this person.

But since the guitar is legitimate, then I wish him the best of luck in having it sold.

correct. do your own research and dont ask stupid questions.
"custom made" on an s-series guitar doesnt mean anything, and all s-series's other than endorsee custom models have 22 frets. its not a particularly rare guitar either, and 800 is way too much.

but yes, that guys attitude is really fcked up..however, mikemann studios, no big surprise there.

Hi unsane, thank you for agreeing with me on the attitude though how was my question regarding the frets stupid? You probably know more about the S Series guitar more than me in this case, but is not knowing enough considered stupid really?

Hm for me personally, i would always sell to the highest bidder. Even if i had confirmed selling to someone first, someone who comes along and gives a higher price, it will be sold to him. Its all business. I won't bend over backwards for someone i don't know when it comes to money issues.

well. I was guilty of that once, not cos of a higher bid though (in fact i sold it at the same price to the next guy), but because of a mis comm between me and that fellow, and my built up intolerance with buyers who can just change their mind after everything is settled and unfortunately, that miscomm made me take that fellow for th kind of person when he wasn't.

I still don't agree that everything is abt mnoney, if i give me word, i keep to it , baring such cuircumstances as what i said above in my scenario.

What did i do then>?

a) Called the fellow i sold the thing and asked if i could have it back. He of cos said no considering the bloody good deal i gave him.

as a result i did:

b) Offered the left out fellow a piece of free gear as compensation. ( which i am still waiting for him to collect)

It was not the best scenario but i think we should have a responsibility to our word. Its not funny as in Phoenix's case when such a thing happens. Gear is more than goods, we as musicians, players are more attached to gear than just goods.

So i hope me unfortunate example can be enlightening.

For me i give priority to those who call first. If theres like 4 interested parties, I keep the numbers of those who inquire later than the first. If the first guy backs out, I just go down the list. Simple.

If somehow by the grace of god someone offers me highly for an item, I'll accept if its too tempting and mass SMS the others with an apology. Simple.

If nobody's generally interested in what I'm selling, and theres like one party asking me stupid questions (I'm not saying hes stupid, but his questions are), I'll entertain him if i can, if i can't, he can go bitch about me in forums, too bad for me. Simple?

hahaha 3NotesAbar another old bird when it comes to idiot buyers.

I have a different system lah. I dun keep track of who inquires or even comes to view but the first person to arrive with ready cash and carry.

It went wrong of cos in my earlier scenario, but on the whole it works damn well cos if the peeps are really interested they will just come and take if they like it after trying. Or they will at least follow up properly, I dun have the patience to chase or constantly check back with potential buyers unless they need specific information about me item.

haha ken. Its not that I have patience or anything, its just something I'm used to. Sometimes the bad thing is, I lose all buyers (fickle bastards), but what to do :) But theres always genuine buyers at most reasonable prices la i guess.

We got our own systems of dealing with buyers. I guess we just get better at being sellers/customers after doing it for a while conscientiously.
