Armchair Critic vs WORMROT (A Little More Competition)

'a little more competition'? what is this? 80's retro???
this is not the way to do it. but we'll do it on our own accord, at our most comfortable time. if armchair critic is serious, i'll contact them.

IMO, James idea of having a generic title for both bands to work on has its merits. Both of you are two different schools of music genre. It's kinda hard to base which one is "better" from just listening to your myspace alone.

Also, if one is waiting for the other to respond, and it's gonna be a quiet affair just between both bands, then it's pointless. The idea for more competition is to create excitement among the followers of the music scene. So let it go public.

If this is a competition (as if there isn't enough real competitions already, the one where you can actually gain something material), there's got to be some rules involved. So how would you suggest to do it? Please suggest some thoughts. We would like to know.

What an interesting idea/deal!! Hehehehhhhe...
Kudos guys (for volunteering), and James (for initiating)..
I'm really looking forward to the final results (music from both bands!!)..

Hey, only a 2 horse race? Make it 3 or 4 for more variety..
Kudos again to both bands!! Best!! Hahahahhhha... ;)

One wins if you do not fail. Make sense?

Just wait lah. James will probably come up with a set of rules. Maybe by voting, maybe a set of criterias. Or maybe, one band will come up with something made of pure genius and the other will create an awful piece of thrash, it will be obvious then.

I hope before you start coming up with preconceived notions, you will give this competition a chance. What's the point of the competition you may ask? How about I give you a list of how this competition will help both bands and the rest of us who are just lurking around here:

1. They learn to create music under the pressure of time- Say if these two bands make it big some day, they may be under the pressure of the record company to come up with their next big hit single within a limited time frame.

2. We are exposed to two very different genres of music. One indie rock(pop?), the other grindcore(am I right? Sorry I'm not very sure about both bands exact genres). Fans of both genres get an opportunity to appreciate someone else's art.

3. We get to listen to free music. WOOT!

4. These two bands get more publicity.

5. We see creativity at its best. That song title is really something.

6. We get to judge and perhaps discuss the pros and cons of the two songs that the bands would have created, which will serve as critique for the bands to further themselves musicwise.

7. Do I really need to carry on?

So Mr. pinkfloydrose and the rest of you with doubts in your heads, why don't you just give change a chance? Rather than sitting in front of your computer being the wet blanket of this thread, why not just wait patiently for two potentially awesome songs to be fed to you. If we do not change, the scene will remain stagnant. Besides, what's wrong with some friendly competition? It's not like the two bands are enemies, eh?

Armchair Critic and WORMRO volunteered for this experiment to see if we can have a little competition between bands in Singapore so as to improve/excite the scene a little.

What better way to compete than to battle it out with a song? So, both bands are supposed to produce a totally new song based on the title "A Little More Competition".

Rules? The first to create a song that impress the majority wins.

FGL, you help me devise a system like those soccer league style? We work towards that?

exciting!
both bands sound really competent in their respective genres!

will be looking to be impressed by lyrics, brutal or indie style :X

yes it is interesting but we decided to do this just for the fun of it. we dont act this is a competition whatsoever. yes its alittle weird two genres competing. i still dont understand how youre going to deal with the end result.

win or lose, we dont really care about the "more publicity" etc either. our schedule for 2009 is already jam packed and i dont need another to squeeze through. personally im still having doubts. This is not how the actual plan or experiment we intended to lay across. hmmm. :???:

And to the editor of Soft, next time pls do informed or reconfirm with the bands that volunteered to take part in a private message rather than a sudden outburst thread. They might have a misunderstanding on how the thing works because is not their intended idea to execute. And they NEED to discuss with the rest of their members before YOUR intended idea thread is being put up. thank you..

ROT, you are from WORMROT right? Is naomi watts from WORMROT too? Cos he volunteered to be in this competition. You guys better sort it out within yourself if you guys are ready for this competition.

I don't want to waste anyone's time here.

In competition, give your 101% to win, don't give 1% excuses to lose.

Mind you im not giving any excuses. facts. but now after your new post to me, yes i am keen in this competition now. look out for the lyrics. james.

"In competition, give your 101% to win, don't give 1% excuses to lose"<-- this is unneccesary. like i said, chill. sounded like one of my goddamn officers.
