One wins if you do not fail. Make sense?
Just wait lah. James will probably come up with a set of rules. Maybe by voting, maybe a set of criterias. Or maybe, one band will come up with something made of pure genius and the other will create an awful piece of thrash, it will be obvious then.
I hope before you start coming up with preconceived notions, you will give this competition a chance. What's the point of the competition you may ask? How about I give you a list of how this competition will help both bands and the rest of us who are just lurking around here:
1. They learn to create music under the pressure of time- Say if these two bands make it big some day, they may be under the pressure of the record company to come up with their next big hit single within a limited time frame.
2. We are exposed to two very different genres of music. One indie rock(pop?), the other grindcore(am I right? Sorry I'm not very sure about both bands exact genres). Fans of both genres get an opportunity to appreciate someone else's art.
3. We get to listen to free music. WOOT!
4. These two bands get more publicity.
5. We see creativity at its best. That song title is really something.
6. We get to judge and perhaps discuss the pros and cons of the two songs that the bands would have created, which will serve as critique for the bands to further themselves musicwise.
7. Do I really need to carry on?
So Mr. pinkfloydrose and the rest of you with doubts in your heads, why don't you just give change a chance? Rather than sitting in front of your computer being the wet blanket of this thread, why not just wait patiently for two potentially awesome songs to be fed to you. If we do not change, the scene will remain stagnant. Besides, what's wrong with some friendly competition? It's not like the two bands are enemies, eh?
