Whitesnake nearly got me laid once when I was a teenager. I'd just arrived a university (I studied in UK) and I was in my room playing 'Is This Love' off 1987 quite loud (great solo). There was a knock at my door and there was this gorgeous blonde babe there called Anne Marie standing there looking extremely hot and babelicious. She said she loved that song and could she come in and listen to it with me. Being a proto-heavy metal nihilist at that time I kinda gave her a weird alienated stare but kinda grudgingly let her in and just mumbled during the time she was there, all the while she was chatting away, being very friendly and asking me about myself, music and kinda flirting. Later she asked me to make a copy of it which I did (tape to tape) and just gave it to her without saying a word and opened the door. What a dumbass! I was kicking myself later that I didn't pick up on any of the signals. Fail.
Ritchie Blackmore had major problems with David Coverdale in Deep Purple. Then again, the man in black always had problems with them singers ya?
I love Whitesnake! 1987 is an awesome album - Sykes freakin' shredded! And the Slip of The Tongue album with Steve Vai is also totally outstanding.
